Description

Up for sale is our 1963 Ford Falcon Deluxe 4 door wagon. We bought this wagon so we could take our grandchildren cruising with us. We have had mustangs and they are just too small for four kids and us.

The problem is it took me eight years to restore the wagon and the grandkids are more interested in their own car than grandpa’s now. We have three other cars waiting to restore and we need to free up the funds to begin work on one of them.

We started with a straight six automatic wagon in Ming Green. This is a rotisserie complete nut and bolt restoration now painted Chrome Yellow Metallic over Mango Tango Orange. It is cool how the sun hits the orange and it looks just like the yellow. The interior is original with only new factory correct cloth replaced on the front seat, and a new dash pad.I restored the original steering wheel but forgot I ordered an aftermarket tilt column so it didn’t fit. Eight years can do that to you.

Now we run a 289 V8 with 4BL intake and Edelbrock carburetor. The engine is rebuilt by S&J in Spokane Washington. Behind that is a 4 speed overdrive automatic from Monster Transmissions in Florida. All new Ron Francis wiring harness.

An eight inch rear end from a 68 mustang donor car with new drums and brakes that has been narrowed 4 inches with new axles and bearings from Mosier to handle the 15 X 7 Stainless Steel Wheels and radials is in the rear. A new drive shaft from Ft. Wayne Clutch is sending the power to her. Also installed is a rear sway bar. The tilt column connects to a Flaming River power rack and pinion steering set-up. Coil-over front shocks and springs and Granada front spindles and power disc brakes handle the front end.

A new aluminum radiator and electric fan cools the 289 and a Gen II air conditioning and heat system.

Every bit of rust was replaced with new metal and black bed liner seals the underside and engine bay. I read where the new Shelby Mustangs that are being built are using the bed liner so I thought “why not me.” New gas tank and lines are there too. Custom dual exhaust from Holt Muffler in Marion, IN gets your attention early on. The wagon was stripped to bare panels and professionally sand and glass blasted while on the rotisserie. Mike’s Magic of Marion, IN painted the car after I did the metal work. All the doors, hood, and tailgate were off the car at paint. All the panels are original too, with a patch panel here or there where needed. Sealed with epoxy primer first. AM-FM stereo with dash dual speaker is brand new too. The break-in oil is still in the engine as we have only put about three hundred miles on the wagon. We did trailer it to Dayton, OH in July to the Falcon Club of America regional show and received an “Top Thirty” plaque out of more than ninety falcons there.

Well over thirty-thousand dollars have been invested, not counting my labor. The only unfinished things are the back-up lights, wired up but not coming on, the dome light, and for some reason the cancel for the turn signal is not working.

I have power to the dome light direct but can’t seem to run it through the door switches successfully.

We have a thick photo album with lots of pictures from start to finish to show all the correct work. And we have the build sheet from the factory.

Under the new carpet is the foil style sound deadening sheets and the factory tar paper sheets. The door panels are original, they just tooka good cleaning. I have the jack and all that goes with it too. Re-chrome original bumper front and rear and re-chrome original hood scoop and tailgate window crank.

All inspection is welcome. I am in Gas City, IN, half way between Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne, three miles off I-69.Call 765-661-8636 or email to neschroeder@yahoo.com.with questions.I have been using my son in law’s Ebay account to sell for the last 10 years. So, call or email me.
