1990 Mustang GT Convertible, 5.0L 302, Manual Transmission
Description
Purchased back in June with plans for a 5.0L Coyote motor and TR6060 6-speed and complete resto-mod, but as they say "life is what happens when you're busy making plans" and the fun cars are always the first to go. New Corbeau front seats, new matching black vinyl upholstery on the back seat, new carpet, new door panels, new center console panel with cup holders, new stereo with six speakers, new rear window motors with billet aluminum guide rod mounts (OEM plastic guide rod mounts are plastic and notorious for breaking), new smoked headlights with LED bulbs, upgraded/smoked halogen fog lights, and receipts for all items installed since we purchased it. Original interior was Scarlett Red with white seats and pretty nasty, but it is definitely a much nicer place to enjoy an evening cruise with the top down as everything that wasn't replaced was cleaned, lightly sanded and painted to match the rest of the new interior with the exception of the seatbelts and air vents. Top was replaced by previous owner 2 years ago, and there is one small tear on the driver's side b-pillar, but the windows seal well to the top and it does not leak. Original owner kept the car garaged and paid a mechanic to keep up the maintenance, who subsequently bought the car and sold it to me. The previous owner indicated it was recently tuned up with new spark plugs, new wires, new distributor cap and rotor, fresh fluids, and the EFI HO 302 has always fired right up with no hesitation every time we started it, transmission shifts well with no grinding or synchro issues, and the clutch has a firm feel with no excess play. Less than 1,000 miles have been put on it since we purchased it in June of this year, as it was only brought out for nice days to enjoy open-air driving. A/C could use a recharge, but since it is a convertible I never worried too much about it. Heater works, but the power locks are not functioning. Original paint looks good for its age, and there are only two superficial rust spots near the drivers side rear wheel (see pictures). A good buff, polish and wax will do wonders, I just haven't had the chance yet after spending several weeks working on the interior in the evenings after work. The car is mechanically solid and has NOT been extensively modified, which is hard to find given the condition of most Fox bodies being sold now. Aside from the superficial rust near the rear wheel, there isn't any structural rust anywhere else on the car, it has never been wrecked, I have a clean title in-hand, and the Carfax report came back clean which I will provide via email to any prospective buyers who demonstrate sufficient interest. Vehicle is located in Great Lakes, IL, about 40 miles north of Chicago. Buyer should plan to put down $500.00 within 24 hours with the rest due within 7 days of the auction's close. I prefer not to ship, but you could easily fly out and drive it home with no issues, as I would not hesitate to drive it in the city or on the highway. If you have any questions please ask, and thank you for looking!
