Description

About This Vehicle:This is a 1988 Ford Mustang LX Convertible 5.0 Liter V-8 and 5 speed manual trans.I ordered this car from a Ford Dealer in Chesnee, SC (Ronnie Burns Ford) in February 1988 and it arrived at the dealer on April 1, 1988.I picked the car up that afternoon.I am the only owner of this car and since I picked it up – it has never been outside overnight, has been garage kept the entire time I have had the car.It has never been wrecked in any way, it has never been smoked in and it has never been driven in the rain. The longest distance this car has been from my house (Spartanburg, SC) is Saluda, NC – which is about 40 miles.Since I picked this car up, only 5 people have driven the car on the highway (exception being 3 trips to a dealer where they pulled into the service area). This car has a little over 12,000 miles. This car has the original tires and they are in good condition. The Spare tire has never been on the ground.

There are 2 things wrong with this car.The AC does not cool – it runs but does not cool. This happened once before in 1993 and it needed 4 seals and freon (see picture of the receipt). It then worked fine until about 7 or 8 years ago.The car has power windows and just recently, the passenger side rear window would not roll up.A lifelong friend of mine that has been a mechanic all his life said that was a common problem as there is a plastic gear that needs replacing. The motor still tries to roll the window, but we had to manually assist to get the window up.I am confident both are minor problems. This car is tight, runs great and is a sweet little car to drive. It needs a good coat of wax and the paint would stand right up.The convertible top ‘boot’ is like brand new – it has been used maybe 5 times.

This was going to be my retirement ‘go to’ car for the weekend and short trips to the mountains and the like.I retired at 65 and at that time had elderly parents and my Mother is still living and is 90.I have to care for her – and then last year, I started having my own health issues. So, at 71, I am going to have to part with this car.I just cannot maintain it and if I could, am not able to get away any to drive it.This car is real – is as described - and probably very few like it – mileage this low and in this condition. There have never been any modifications, rim changes or anything done to this car.It is as stock as the day I picked it up at Ronnie Burns Ford.
