Description

1957 FORD COUNTRY SEDAN 6-passenger wagon that was built in Long Beach Ca, has:factory power steering; factory power brakes;original thunderbird 4 bbl 312 v-8engine; automatic transmission, and; aftermarket non-working air conditioning (partially removed). It is licensed and driven frequently around town. There is no smoke from the exhaust! The wagon has had a lot of work (self and specialty repairfacilities) to make it road ready and safe to drive around town. The odometer shows 47404 miles, but it could be 147404, 247404?

This wagon is all original with the exception of the reverse chrome wheels and the aftermarket air conditioning, tachometer, oil and amp gauges. It also has chrome valve covers and air breather.

The engine, trans, and drivetrain have no major leaks, but there are some minor drips (three small drips: front tranny seal drips, power steering proportioning valve drips, fuel tank drip). The drips are enough to put a small drop on the driveway, but not enough to create a puddle. The engine does not use oil, does not overheat, runs excellent, has never failed to start, and transmission shifts like it should.

The transmission is the factory original. The shift lever only indicates two speeds; however, our local transmission service facility stated it has three speeds. The transmission starts in second gear and shifts to high (shift lever in Dr position). The lower gear is not engaged unless the gear shift lever is in the Lo position. We haveonly driven this car in the Dr position.

The underside has some rust and the very front passenger side radiator support should be replaced. There are some rust-through areas by the rear fender wells and spare tire area. The floor pans and frame are original (please look the pictures over close). The left-side fender well has a hole cut-in for a clean/coolair intakesystem that was removed (you can see the hole as well as the intake cone in the pictures from the link provided below).

The paint is in poor condition, the previous owner stated it was repainted in 1989 but we could not verify that fact.

The tires are in good drivable condition.

The exhaustsystem is a new dual system installed by a local professional custom exhaust facility.

The glass in the car is original, un-chipped or cracked, with the exception both rear side glass are cracked. The side glass is readily available and fairly easy to install.

The interior seats appear to have been redone at some point and are in good condition. The carpet has seen better days as it is faded and stained in places. The headliner is in great condition but dirty. There is a new interior light installed. There are two aftermarket speakers installed in the upper rear where someone punctured the headliner to install.

The weather-stripping is bad throughout the car and needs replacing (We have new door weather-stripping that comes with the car).It is for this reason I do not recommend you drive the car for long distances.Exhaust fumes do come in through the rear gate.It is okay to drive around town with the windows down for fresh air.We put a tarp over the car to prevent rain from damaging the interior or pooling in the body due to the bad sealing of the doors.

This car came with a luggage rack from the factory; it is not installed and is included with the car.The rack is missing one cross piece and will have to be found by the new owner (see pictures (both above and using link below)).

The chrome bumpers are in very good condition and the previous owner stated the grille has been chrome plated, but we did not verify that fact. The stainless trim is in good condition in most places, but does have some minor dents. It appears the dents can come out with some light body working, and the overall condition to bring back to shine appears to only need polishing to look new. I did not see any pitting in the trim.

The lights work, the wipers work, the turn signals work, the heater fan works, the clock works intermittently (elec connection?); however, the radio doesn't work.

This is a nice 57 wagon just waiting to be restored, very sound mechanically, and it is a pleasure to drive and own.We also have the original owner’s manual that goes with the car.

The following is a list of work that was recently performed:

·21-point safety inspection (by local repair facility) which included brake and lighting inspections.

·New fuel line and filter (to the fuel pump)

·Gas shocks

·Ignition wires

·Spark plugs

·Belts

·Power steering pump rebuilt

·Steering ram rebuilt

·Replaced transmission seals, (except front seal), filter cleaned (services performed by local repairfacility)

·Fuel tank sending unit rebuilt and calibrated

·New NAPA battery

·New valve covers and gaskets (retained original valve covers)

·New dual exhaust system (complete from manifolds out to rear of car)

·Differential pinion shaft seal replaced

·New repair literature (repair manual and electric schematics)

·New sun visors

·New heavy-duty (red) heater hoses

·Rocker arm adjustment (two rocker arms should be replaced)

We also have many new items that go with the car and are included in the pictures. One note is that we only have three (3) new window cranks. There are four original hubcaps included for the stock 14” rims. One hubcap has three holes drilled into the cap (see picture). Not sure why this was done?
