If you are into trucks, and are looking for a special one, you are looking at the right auction. This is a very unique truck with an awesome life and story. This is a very original 1968 F100 shortbed Ford truck that really defines the term "survivor:" This truck has beensympathetically upgraded with a strong emphasis on keeping it original in the process.
This truck was bought brand new on Dec 30th 1967 by the State of Nevada for the city of Carson public school division. The original owner ID card is included with this truck. The truck was bought strictly for transporting school bus parts to and from the depot. It drove typically 10 miles a day. The bed was loaded up and it went to and from the bus depot with parts. The truck was bought brand new in tan and was immediately repainted by the bus depot in Laidlaw bus yellow, or school bus yellow if you like. The paint has an amazing shine still and an awesome patina fade like no other. There are typical bumps and scratches but the truck is extremely straight and solid. The only rust to be found is in the bottom of the front fenders as is typical in these trucks. There is also a rust hole in the passenger side floor about the size of a dime. Other than that I can't find anything else worth mentioning. The truck was ordered without a rear bumper and the tailgate was removed when new for easier bed loading.
The truck has 44K original miles on the smooth running V8. The truck has a 4 speed manual trans on the floor that shifts fine and goes through all the gears without issue. Brakes work great and the truck has plenty of power. The engine bay is very clean and the paint in there shines! Carb was recently rebuilt and plugs, wires etc are all near new. Fuel pump is brand new as well. This truck is a driver and ready to enjoy. The truck was lowered with dropped I-beams in front and flipped shackles out back for a near perfect 4/4 drop. The wheels are 15x7 front and 15x8.5 Wheel Vintiques wheels. These are brand new, powder coated gloss black. Hubcaps are brand new Chrome Ford script with hand painted logos. Tires are also brand new with the perfect rubber rake to make the truck sit just right. The entire package has less than 1000 miles on it since install. All glass was removed, channels cleaned and new rubber installed. The front windshield is also brand new.
Inside the truck was completely taken apart, The floor was buffed and waxed, door panels buffed and waxed, seat was recovered in proper early black seat cover. New proper black carpet was installed along with new pedals and fresh correct headliner and lenses. Dash was renewed and cleaned and sill plates were installed. The inside of this truck is clean, clean clean and a great place to sit. The truck is nice and quiet with its stock exhaust. It starts silently which is a testament to its low mileage. A set of mufflers would make this thing a hot rod if you chose to go that route but as it is, its an amazing cruiser. Truly a turn key truck ready to enjoy! Trucks of this quality are just not out there anymore and I spent over a year perfecting this already amazing truck. Its ready to be enjoyed and shown.
