ALL steel rare 1932 Ford CABRIOLET super clean, straight & complete
Description
1932 FORD CABRIOLETOkay folks, here's the story - the "background", the good, the not so good and the plain ugly.
BACKGROUND: Car was owned until very recently by the same fellow since 1948. During that time, he had sold it and repurchased shortly after realizing his "mistake". He used it frequently as WI. weather permitted until 2 years ago. He fell ill around that time and shortly thereafter had passed away. I'd purchased this car only to obtain another car in the descendant's possession. I never had any intention of keeping this car. Simply put, I am a '39 & '40 guy.THE GOOD: This car is being sold without reserve. The starting bid is less than I have invested but I want to sell this vehicle - not simply get an appraisal by you bidders. If I get more than I paid, great. If not, I'll live another day :) Oh yeah, I have the clear and recent title. This car ran and shifted very well prior to being put in to storage a couple of years ago. It was often seen at local shows and rally's.After I brought it home, I'd installed a battery and found all electrical components work well. Turn signals are neatly installed in the cowl lamps and separate rear lamps. Dash lamps, head & tail lamps, horn, etc. all work. Steering feels good & "tight".This car was fully restored a number of years ago. The frame and complete chassis remain very clean. The frame was obviously very nice and still remains very straight and not rust pitted. The sheet metal on this entire car, yes, the ENTIRE car is very nice. Super solid floors that had been painted on both sides during the restoration. I found no signs of patching. Fenders, hood, etc. were NICELY finished on both sides. The interior is very nice as is the top, the top assembly and top boot. The top assembly is authentic and in very nice condition. The windows roll up & down smoothly. Doors latch smoothly. It appears as if the radiator was re-cored. It is simply too nice to believe otherwise.Hydraulic brakes were tastefully added. By that I mean they were not "butchered" in. 16" (1935) wire wheel rims. Tires are nice but faded (whitewalls). Dual exhaust was installed but again, it was done professionally. Not some backyard hack job.The entire rumble seat area is very nice. No damage whatsoever.Wiring is very nice. Not all brittle or cut up. Running boards are super nice - top and bottom.Chrome (bumpers, windshield frame, etc.) are nice. Not fresh and perfect but very nice nonetheless.Overall this is what you'd expect of a later full restoration that has been driven carefully and well taken care of. I am guessing the mileage shown is how many clicks since this car was fully restored.THE NOT SO GOOD: The left - rear fender appears to have been tapped. Not HIT, but tapped. Regardless, it ain't straight. Picture included. There is a little damage to the top of the left door. I have no clue how this happened but it must be noted. Picture included. There's carpet in the front. That can't be authentic, can it? Oh, dropped axle and tube shocks... obviously not original but they are installed nicely and it appears they'd be easily swapped for authentic parts if so desired.NOW THE UGLY: I told ya...there's always some "ugly". When this car was put away as the gentleman became very ill, apparently someone forgot to install anti-freeze. That's a costly mistake in WI. and yep, the engine is cracked.
OVERALL?: This is one heck of a nice car. It's a shame the engine cracked but considering the previous owner was terminal, I certainly understand how the car was no longer that important to him. I truly believe with a fresh engine (only) this car is ready to cruise in and more than that, a car you'd be very proud to show off. If this was a '39 or '40, it would never be offered up :)
