Sweet Fastback!
Description
1965 Ford Mustang Fastback
Just in time for the Holidays! Make it a Merry Christmas for you or someone special!
The following information is from the gentleman I bought the car from, who put years of love into it to build for his daughter. I bought it from him in the summer of 2017, and then got stationed in Europe three months later! So I find it best to use his words due to my limited time with the car...
This car underwent a 6 year restoration that was completed 14 years ago.
The car was mounted on a rotisserie, all parts were removed, the paint was stripped, and the floor pan, rear trunk sheet metal, all four fenders and two door skins were replaced. Then the chassis was sent to a professional painting shop for repainting.
The color is Deep Amethyst Pearl (think metallic purple/ dark blueish) after a six month paint drying period the car was reassembled.
All carpets were replaced with new. Seats were all reupholstered with black vinyl and a new headliner installed as well. And to be honest the interior looks amazing!
The wiring harness was first mounted onto a large table top where it underwent its own restoration and complete testing before it was reinstalled in the car.
All of the rear sheet metal trim was replaced with new sheet metal and all of the rubber pieces for the car replaced with new rubber.
A front tinted windshield was installed. (All glass is in great, yet not new shape.)
The motor was professionally rebuild at a local NAPA machine shop.
A new torque converter was installed in the C-4 automatic transmission.
The car has a full length console and a very nice wood like steering wheel. And a new dash cover. A pioneer radio/ CD player replaced the old AM radio.
The motor is the ORIGINAL 289 cubic inch V-8 with a Holly 4 barrel carburetor.
A Pertronix II breakerless ignition module was installed in the ignition distributor. No need to adjust the points anymore! Yay!
A new three core heavy duty radiator was installed as well as a rebuilt starter and alternator. A small radiator was added to cool the power steering fluid.
This car now boasts four wheel power disc brakes! AND a Borgeson integral power steering unit and a new Saginaw power steering pump!
All brake calipers were replaced with remanufactured units. All brake lines and hoses were upgraded and replaced. (Though the car does not currently have a parking brake, I may have everything you need to install it, again, if I can locate it)
The power brake booster came from a 2007 Mustang GT. It is a hydro-boost design, not a vacuum boost design. A residual brake pressure valve was installed in the rear brake circuit and of course a brake proportioning valve for all four disc brakes was installed.
All turn signals lights, instrument lights, and brake lights were upgraded to LED. Along with the needed flasher relay.
The exhaust system is a factory dual exhaust system with Mustang GT exhaust trumpet tips. Rear backup lights were also installed. She is currently installed with an 8.8” differential. This beautiful car has been driven just 20,000 miles since its rebirth. (Although the true mileage of the car is of course unknown.)
It has ALWAYS been stored in garage, and is currently located in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is a beautiful car, with few imperfections. The body is amazing with just a small ding or two that you won’t even notice from twenty feet.
I call her Jolene. And she needs a new home.
