Description

This car was purchased new in October 1965 by my father as a birthday gift for my mother and has been in the family ever since. It is all original except for one respray in 1985 and a valve job at approximately 60k miles. It has been well maintained and stored in a garage for it's entire life. It was a daily local driver until about 1985, after which it was very seldom driven. It has been in storage in a garage since 2000. The photos you see is the uncovering of this vehicle for the first time in many years. When parked it ran excellent. The only known mechanical issue at the time of storage was that it needed front suspension work. Cosmetically, the paint is dulled and has a few scratches but is virtually rust free except for two small, dime-sized spot in the lower front corner of each door. The original top (white) is toast but the frame and power pump works fine. The interior is original and has only two small seam separations on the rear seat and some fading of the paint on the driver's door trim and center console. I am listing this vehicle as is because I understand the market for unmolested barn-find originals. I am happy to answer any questions and post addition photos on request.

UPDATE: The odometer reads 87k and change. In speaking with my mother after I posted the listing, she believe this is the true mileage, not 187k. She based this on her daily commute to work of only 3 miles round trip, and that she remembers the valve job to be done at 60k miles. I can't be completely sure of this, but her recall seems to make sense. I also have a ton of receipts and other paperwork including original owner's manual and documentation. The car was purchased at Barber Ford in Ventura, California and still wears their original license plate frame. The car is currently in Ventura.

I have been getting a lot of emails asking for the data plate and other information. I added some photos to show this car is matching numbers. It also has both original black plates and the original keys. I also have been getting a lot of requests to show the car to local buyers. I won't be available to do that until late Monday afternoon or evening. Again, this car is being offered as is. I have not started it or gone through it after 18 years of storage. I haven't even dusted it off. But it will clean up nicely and run well, I am sure of this. If the reserve price is not met, I intend to go through it and do the bright work and sort through all the mechanicals and install a new top and then realist it with detailed pictures. I don't intend to paint it though. I hope this is helpful.

One more thing - based on the data plate, the car was built in April of 1966 so I guess it was a birthday gift for my mom in October of 1966 not 1965. Sometimes family lore gets confused over time...
