Description

This is an outstanding little Ford truck. Lots of work has already been done to make it reliable and dependable to drive as well as fun and enjoyable to drive wherever you wish to go. When was the last time you saw a "time capsule" such as this?? Very unusual and different. This truck is a true barn find from here in Oklahoma. It had set in a barn for 15 yrs in an inoperable condition when I purchased it from the previous owner. This truck has benefited from an extensive mechanical restoration since I purchased it. My aim was to mechanically restore this truck to make it reliable and trustworthy for long distance travel if needed. The ever popular 239 cubic inch V8 flathead 100 hp. engine had already been overhauled by previous owner and was just sitting in truck but had never been hooked to the electrical, cooling or fuel system when I purchased it.
The following list are things that I have done to get it on the street and make it reliable and dependable at highway speeds. I recently took it on a 150 mile road trip to see if there was a need of any additional repairs or adjustments to make it reliable and dependable. It drove straight down the road without wandering and handles 55-60 mph with ease and without any vibrations. No issues other than a carburetor adjustment was needed. Truck ran good and has good strong pull through all the gears. Was a joy to drive and reminisce about "the good old days" while driving it.
Hundreds of hours of love and labor alone in the mechanical restoration of this old truck, not including the parts to get this truck where it is today.
ENGINE: Has approximately 1,000 miles on major engine overhaul of this V8 flathead engine. I have personally driven this truck about 1,000 miles since purchasing it 4 years ago. Runs quiet and smooth and idles very good and quiet. No unusual noises in engine at higher speeds or on idle. Has an aftermarket high volume oil pump for better lubrication and reliability. New motor mounts and new transmission mount.
COOLING SYSTEM: New 3 core aluminum radiator with high volume electric fan. Both water pumps are new. New thermostats, new hoses, clamps and belt.
Electrical System: Complete upgrade to new 12 volt wiring system with newer style blade type fuses and fuse panel as newer vehicles have. New GM alternator and regulator. New Petronix electronic solid state ignition eliminating old school points and condenser. This also improves spark, performance and reliability and easier to start engine. New distributor cap, rotor and new plug wires. New turn signals were added and a custom park lamp turn signal kit was added to allow park lamps and turn signal to operate as one. This eliminates the need for a separate turn signal lamp mounted on the fender as you see on many old vintage trucks. New horn and horn relay and new horn wiring harness in steering column. New tail lamps. New battery and battery cables. The Unity spot light was converted to a 12 volt with new beam. New aftermarket temperature gauge was added for a more accurate reading of engine temperature. Instrument panel was completely restored. All gauges work properly except speedometer. Has new speedometer cable.
FUEL SYSTEM: New original style fuel pump and sediment bulb. New inline fuel filter. New fuel tank and fuel sender unit. The carburator was overhauled as well. New gas pedal on floor.
STEERING SYSTEM: New king pins. New tie rod ends. Steering box completely overhauled with new worm gears, bearings and seals. Four new shocks.
BRAKING SYSTEM: All drums turned. New brake shoes. New master cylinder. All new wheel cylinders on each corner. New rubber flex brake hoses and new steel brake lines front to back. Wheel bearings packed. New complete emergency brake cable system from rear drums to dash lever. New rubber cushions on brake pedal and clutch pedal.
EXHAUST SYSTEM: New Headman exhaust headers for a "TRUE" dual aluminized exhaust system. New dual mellow glasspack mufflers. Exhaust sound is very nice and not overly loud. New chrome exhaust tips.
TIRES AND WHEELS: Tires are 15 inch radial tires. Tires are not new but have 80% tread and were in storage for about 10 years before installing them on this truck. New Ford caps and after market trim rings.
TRANSMISSION: The original 3 speed floor mounted transmission has had a very recent complete overhaul. All new gears, synchronizers, bearings and gasket set with fresh new oil. Clutch, pressure plate and idler bearing are not new but were inspected and found to be in very good condition so were not replaced. Transmission is quiet and does not pop out of gear.
CAB: Inside of cab has been restored back to original. New seat cushion, batting and foam and seat frame painted. New headliner, kick panels, dual inside visors. the cab floor board area is solid with no rust. Minimal rust in cab corners. Bottom of doors are good, however one door has minimal rust at bottom of door. Front fender areas have the usual rust where they tie into the running boards, rust under headlights, as well as at seam in each fender. Rear fenders have some rust areas that have been repaired years into the past. Both running boards have had steel tread plate added to the top surface many years ago. New cardboard glove box liner. All new dash knobs. New radio speaker cover and radio delete cover. New inside rear view mirror. New retracting seat belts for safety. Complete interior of the cab was media blasted and professionally repainted. Both doors open and close nicely. Heater and defrosters work good with new defroster hoses and new heater switch. New heater shut-off valve installed into heater hose for summer driving.
GLASS AND DOORS: Complete new green tinted glass with all new gaskets in doors and cab. New door glass window felt kit, channeling kit and new vent window rubber kit. New rubber weather seals on doors. Inside door regulators were oiled and windows operate up and down nicely. Door latches were oiled and work nicely. Windshield wipers do not work. They are the old original vacuum type and never worked properly when they were new. Most owners of vintage vehicles use Rain-X to solve this issue and it works well.
DRIVEABILITY: This truck handles highway speeds up to 60 mph easily without stressing the engine, as they were low geared back in the day.
WHAT THIS TRUCK NEEDS: The speedometer gear is bad and does not register properly. I have searched online and through old truck parts suppliers and not located one as of yet.
This is a great little truck with loads of character and appeal. That being said, it's still an 68 year old truck. No warranties implied or expressed. What you see is what you get. If you have additional questions please feel free to call or text me. Emails will be answered but there may be a delay on emails. My cell is 918- 606-1338. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY: Your bid is a " legal binding contract" through Ebay to purchase if you are the high bidder. As with all auctions, the reserve is not made public. The reserve price is reasonable and commensurate with the popularity of the Ford F1's, as well as the work that has been done to this truck and the current market value of this type Ford truck.
Good clean Oklahoma title in my name.
