1971 Ford Thunderbird - Hardtop Coupe - 429ci Thunderjet V8 - California Car
Description
You are looking at a very rare 1971 Ford Thunderbird coupe.
Very few sedans or coupes were produced as hard tops like this one - most having the padded landau top.
This T Bird lived its entire life up until 2014 in California. After that, it has lived in Massachusetts.
The good: The 429 thunderjet V8 runs very well. The transmission shifts well. The underside of the car, the trunk and the majority of the body represent a nice, rot free California car. All the lights work, the interior lights work, windows work. The Borla mufflers are new.
The not so good: The car needs a little bit of everything. The body has some rust on the edges - over the LR fender, around the RF windshield pillar, and in a few random spots. The rear end whines as you pick up speed, but feels like it just needs a pinion adjustment. The interior needs love on the headliner, drivers seat, and door panels.
It drives fine as it sits. I drove it 1.5 hours home when i picked it up. I would however recommend at least fixing the pinion in the rear end before driving it regularly.
The gentleman I bought the car from spent thousands since 2014 on the mechanical and there are lots and lots of spare parts included that I’ll put in the trunk.
The car sits in heated and dry storage indoors.
80+ pictures uploaded to the website. This is the cheapest driver Thunderbird of this vintage I have found online.
