Description

Here is something not seen everyday. Every time I take it out it attracts attention. Up for bid is a 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 Ranch Wagon, modified with a 1997 Mustang GT front k member, subframe, firewall and strut towers welded in. I didn't do the mods they were done by the previous owner, and I bought it as a mostly completed car about 2 years ago. The drivetrain is a 97 Mustang GT fuel injected 4.6 V8 with T45 5 speed manual trans. Engine is stock except for a 2004 PI head/intake swap and all the emissions components being removed. Dyno tuned by a local tuner through the included SCT X3 tuner. PATS, emissions all removed and custom tuned for the PI head swap. The clutch is a new factory style replacement clutch and Ford Motorsports flywheel, shifted by a Steeda Triax shifter and Hurst stick for a vintage look.Uses the Mustang power rack and pinion steering and also retains the hydroboosted 4 wheel disk brakes with drilled/slotted rotors.Rear suspension was converted to a custom 4 link connected to a freshly rebuilt narrowed Ford Explorer 8.8 rear with a Tracloc and 4:10 gears.Wheels are17x8 Black Bullitts with new 245/45-17 tires. It isn't a race car, the family and I just just like to take it out and have fun in it. Mostly just driven locally and occasionally to work.Modern HVAC and A/C were grafted into the dash from the Mustang as well as the intermittent wipers and washer system. Gauges are Classic Instruments gauges in a custom bracket to integrate them into the original dash. JVC bluetooth radio with CD player and 4 5x7 speakers in the doors. Uses the factory Mustang offroad H pipe connected to a custom dual exhaust. Wiring harness from the Mustang was completely integrated into the car so none of the old wiring remains, no splices. Everything works on the car except I have yet to wire the new replacement front door switches into the Mustang's dome light wiring. The dome light does work with the switches as do the lit vanity mirrors. Also uses original Mustang tilt column with a custom billet wheel adapter and reproduction Shelby Cobra steering wheel. Fuel tank is a new Mustang replacement tank with fuel pump, the rear storage area was shortened up to accomodate the tank. The suspension is tight with a fresh alignment and new struts and shocks.I replaced the windshield, weatherstrips, window seals for all the glass, window felts, track fuzzies and rollers. Windows are all clear and haze, chip and crack free. Windows go up and down nice, doors open and shut solid. Doors have no rust underneath, door jambs are nice clean and rust free. Floor is fully covered in Dynamat sound deadener. New carpet and reupholstered interior in red and white marine vinyl, the Mustang front seats were retained and used with the headrests removed and reupholstered to match the original style of the interior. New factory style seat belts added front and rear. Tailgate has manual rear window which works well. Retains its original paint and exterior patina with a matte clear coat for protection. Runs and sounds great, the car drives and stops amazingly well. Has some minor rust through on both front fender bottoms and left rear wheel lip, however it adds to the vintage look. Also a little rust starting on the inside bottom of the tail gate. Rear passenger floor was repaired previously with some fiberglass by the previous owner. Otherwise car is extremely solid structurally. With the modern Mustang backbone this car can be started and driven by anyone, turn key and go. I was originally going to autocross it this year but plans have changed. My family and I have put over 2,000 miles on this car in the last year and a half, hate to see it go but I have 2 other projects that need funded. I tried my best to post all the pics I can and disclose everything so there are no surprises. No trades, no offers to buy, just bid to win. If it doesn't sell I won't relist, as it costs too much. Do the math and you can't find a decent wagon and modify/modernize it so you can drive it daily like this one for what my reserve is. $500 Paypal deposit due within 24hrs, balance due within 7 days. Balance can be cash in person, certified check or wire transfer. Car will not leave until funds have completely cleared. Buyer to arrange shipping, I will work with carrier to get car loaded. It can stay here for up to a month as long as it's paid for. Thanks for looking, Jason.
