Description

Looking like pure horsepower on wheels, this 1929 Ford 5-window coupe was inspired by the hot rods of the early '60s, with a few modern touches that make it a pleasure to drive. This is the kind of rod that will never go out of style, and every time you pull onto the show field, all eyes will be on you. The Model A was popular because it was light and because there were plenty of them...around. Today, that's not really the case anymore, and finding a 5-window coupe this nice can be a challenge. With more than a few tricks learned from, say, a 1958 issue of Hot Rod Magazine, it has exactly the right look that you'd expect from a hot Model A. The satin black paint, the raked stance, and the open hood all give it a race-ready look, not to mention those traditional wide whites. Workmanship is quite good, and it takes a sharp eye to find all the tweaks, ranging from the molded-in windshield visor to the shaved door handles to the traditional '39 Ford taillights. Up top there's a checkered insert on the roof, a neat detail that makes this rod stand apart without losing track of its roots. The traditional-looking red and white interior is likewise straight out of the 1950s. Pleated upholstery on a simple bench seat, matching door panels, and plain black carpets all give it a very finished look that's quite inviting. A white insert is used on the dashboard and there's a full complement of white faced VDO gauges keeping an eye on the gnarly small block up front. The shifter is a cool piece with a custom beer tap shift knob and the extended steering column and oversized steering wheel actually make for a very contemporary driving position. Plenty of sound deadening materials keeps it quiet and comfortable for cruising. In back, the trunk is filled with a fuel cell and remote battery, freeing up space in the engine bay and giving this car decent cruising range. This Ford is 100% Blue Oval thanks to a 302 cubic inch Ford up front that's so fresh it still has a transferable warranty. It's a neat fit in the coupe's engine bay and is neatly dressed like a vintage V8. Underneath that big air scoop you'll find an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor flanked by chrome valve covers that add some sparkle. The engine itself is bright red so it really pops against the satin black paint, and check out that custom-made aluminum fan shroud that looks like a piece of art. Nice work there, guys! It's backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission and out back, a Ford 9-inch rear is held in position by a 4-link setup and coil-over shocks, while the front suspension is an I-beam axle with a transverse leaf spring and a 4-link setup. Disc brakes have been fitted at all four corners, and the big-n-little tire combination looks right with wide whites. Steel wheels with Ford hubcaps and trim rings are a traditional look and the Coker tires have plenty of life left in them. Traditional rods are red hot right now, and this satin black coupe is a nice alternative to the usual bright red, don't you think? Call today!
