Description

PLEASE LOOK atthe other 1946-48 Sedans that are up for auction here on eBay, and elsewhere, and then consider this beautiful Show & Quality '47 Sedan. It was a total Frame-Off (every nut & bolt!) Resto-rod thatwe purchased from the builder. I can honestly say (since I didn't build it!), this car looks like a professional build to me. It's gorgeous, It drives wonderfully, and it is just impeccably done and finished. After buying this car, we found my wife's life-long dream car. Of course, that's going to take some work. So, that's why we're selling the '47. It's either that or add onto the garage! We're not desperate to sell it, and will not sell it for less than the Reserve Price.
The original body was in extremely solid condition, with only surface rust, except for only 3 small rust spots. After the body was completely stripped, those rust spots were cut out and patch paneled properly. The underside was sealed with POR 15, and the received a coat of rubberized undercoating to both protect the metal, as well as to reduceroad noise. Topside, the sheet metalis laser straight, and the two-tone base & clear coat finish is, in my opinion, just beautiful. TheRocky Mountain Brownover the Mocha Frost Metallic is as smooth as glass. And, joining the two colors is a subtle red hand pinstriping. Side moldings, emblems and deck handle were removed, and the electric trunk latch is from a Cadillac. As seen in the pictures, the top corners of the doors have been rounded, and the rear fenders were permanently attached, and the seam perfectly finished. It looks like it came from the factory that way. A new gas tank was also installed.
The chassis was sandblasted, and following some modernization, was painted in chassis black. The front suspension was replaced witha TCI Brand suspension (Mustang II design), complete with power disc brakes and power rack & pinion steering. Steering column is G.M., with column shift, and leather 1/2 wrapped wheel. Rearward isan 8.25" Chrysler differential with 2.92 gears, along withnew springs. Car rides on 16"x7" (front) and 17"x8" (rear) polished American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels, and Goodyear tires. This car drives very comfortably, tracks perfectly, and steers like a new car.At 60-65 mph, thetach reads just over2000 rpm.
Under the hood is a mildly modified 318" Mopar/Dodge engine. It was bored .030 over, has a mild flat-tappet cam, Edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor on top of a Weiand polished aluminum manifold. It has a 100 amp chromed alternator. Cooling is handled by a Walker radiator with two electric fans, (puller for basic engine cooling, and pusher for added cooling power when A/C is turned on). Shorty headers lead to aluminized exhaust & tailpipes, and Dynomax 20" (case) mufflers. It has a low, but noticeable rumble. Very quiet engine mechanicals. Transmission is a 904 Chrysler 3-speed automatic (equivalent to G.M. TH350). For you Chevy & Ford guys, like me, I have to tell you, this little 318 Mopar engine satisfies me. Itlooks a bit like a Small Block Chevy, and runs & sounds somewhat like a Ford 289"-302".
Inside, the faux leather, tan & light brown covered Dodge bucket seats are very comfy. The Vintage Air A/C blows good & cold for those hot days, and good heat for the cold days. The glass was replaced with browntinted glass,as well asnew seat belts, a great console containing a VCR and rear controls for the kids, in the rear. Stereo is a Pioneer AM/FM-CD, installed in glove box, with 6" speakers in the front doors, and 8" in the rear. The Tilt wheel makes handling comfortable. It also has electric w/s wipers, an electric cowl vent, and Haneline 3-in-1 gauges. Please note that in the picture of the right side (door open) of the interior, it's the floor mat that's rough-edged, and not the carpet itself.
That cute little luggage trailer was completely hand built by the builder, starting with 47 Ford rear fenders. He fabricated an all steel frame, it locks, and is weatherstripped. The inside dimensions are 17" deep by 50" long. The same LED taillights as were frenched into the rear of the car are also frenched into the rear of the trailer. It rides on a torsion axle system, like those used on Champion trailers, andsame AR wheels as on the car. Of course, it is finishedin the same colors and pinstriping as on the car.
I invite and encourage potential buyers to call me, Randy @ 928-533-4481with any questions you might have, as well as to make arrangements to come andinspect the car, if you wish.
