Description

1992 Ford E-350 box van converted to sound recording truck. This truck was originally owned by the city of Columbus, Ohio and was used for cable TV production.

The aluminum box was customized by Fred Gerling and Associates. If you know anything about Gerling, you know this truck was done right.

The truck has less than 5500 miles on it. No misprint. 5500 miles. We put all new tires on it last year, and they have less than 100 miles on them. Comes complete with an Onan generator, power switching between “shore power” and generator power, and code-compliant internal 120VAC wiring. Box is heated and air-conditioned with rooftop unit.

The truck is in really great shape for its age. It’s been well cared for.

We removed the video gear, and converted the truck for sound recording. It is now wired with a 16 input jack field, with balanced XLR inputs. It is set up with a talkback line, headphone distribution system, and a B&W video camera, monitor and cabling. All inputs are accessible through 2 ADC patch bays.

Two racks full of outboard gear including compressors, parametric and graphic equalizers, multi-effects processors, and disk recorder. (See equipment list below.) It has two KRK “Rockit” powered monitors. Includes snake, power cabling, separate cables for headphone distribution and video, headphone distribution boxes, and eight external mic preamps.

The only things not included are the mixer, computer of your choice, and microphones.

This system works well. I have been in the audio business for over 30 years, and I’ve written many articles and a textbook on sound recording. So, I think it’s done right.

Why am I selling it? I cannot devote enough time to using the truck to justify keeping it. It will make a great rig for the right person. Whether you want to record local high school bands, plays, live events, or live concerts for CD - or if you want to park it and use it as your control room – it will do what you need to do.

I am a motivated seller. I am not looking to get rich on selling this truck. I would like to recover my investment.
