Description
First time offered, this recent build started with a fiberglass body and rectangular tube frame of unknown origin. Vintage parts and features include original 1925 firewall and windshield (safety glass upgrade) rear sedan trunk (gas tank & battery) and the radiator shell of unknown (not Ford) history. The body is fully reinforced with steel and will withstand a small adult walking around the perimeter. Storage area below the seataccommodates a jack, spare tools and a separate beverage cooler.
Yes, those are real Halibrand (15 x 8) rear wheels with true knock-offs, front and rear. The wheels had never had tires mounted prior to this build. Fronts are vintage M/T (14 x 6.5) Medallions with the raised windows, modified to mount up to themidget hubs. Rear brakes are standard 10" Mustang while the fronts are vintage JFZ on Doolin rotors.
Drivetrain: Consists of a 1992 Mustang 2300 bolted to a rebuilt 1986 Mustang C3 running to an early 1965 Mustang 8" tapered housing rear end with a 3.80 open diff. The engine is offset by 2" to the right toaccommodate a tall driver (I'm 6' 4") in the standard length body. Esslinger intake, Holley 350cfm, turbo exhaust manifold to 3" baffled exhaust, NOS distributor converted to Pertronix, Spike radiator and Wilwood balance bar master cylinders (non power brakes).
Misc: 1957 Chevy (Fairfax) reversed steering box with normal play. Vintage Mor-drop axle with '48spindles. Wheelbase is 101 inches and the car weighs 1640 ibs. without driver. 10 gal speedway fuel tank with sender.
General: This is not a pro-build but a well thought-out home-build utilizing professionals where safety and strength are important. This car is loaded with detail not apparent in the photos. I invite email inquiries or personal visits prior to the end of this auction. This car is typical of many T-Buckets in that the buggy spring suspension provides a less than ideal ride. It is however a fun car on short drives and attracts attention wherever you go. The paint and graphics are intended to look old and are finished with a top coat of clear satin.
