1947 Ford Convertible Super Deluxe
Description
1947 Ford Convertible Super Deluxe. I am listing this this car for my aunt. My aunt and uncle purchased this car in 1974 because it was similar to a car that they owned while they were dating in the early 50's. Shortly after purchase, as time and money permitted, piece by piece my uncle started the slow, 45 year, restoration process (a labor of love). The body was removed from the chassis, the frame was media blasted, repainted, and all worn parts were repaired or replaced. The engine and transmission, a flat head V8 with the three speed, were in good operating condition and were not rebuilt, but simply freshened up with new plugs, points, wires, filters, belts, hoses and such. Overall the body was in very good condition, but my uncle wanted the body to be flawless, so he hired a friend, who was a Ford dealership body and paint man to refinish the exterior in his spare time after regular work hours. The body is straight, and with several coats of hand rubbed lacquer looks very nice. There are no dents, dings and with the exception of a couple very light scratches which should buff out, the paint is nice. All of the gap spacing and panel alignment looks great. The chrome trim including bumpers, grill, light trim, door handles and moldings are all in excellent condition, with the exception of one dent in the upper trim molding on the right side rear next to the trunk lid. The brakes were gone through and a new set of period correct wide white walls were installed. The tires are BF Goodrich Silvertown, they have 50 miles on them, but are approximately 30 years old. About 10 years ago this car was driven about 50 miles and it performed as it should. Due to my uncles health, the work on the car stopped, shortly after. Since then the car has sat in a garage on a concrete floor, and collected a lot of dust. The engine will still turn over by hand and is not locked up. With the exception of the mufflers the belly of the car still looks very nice. The dash has been painted and complete except for the radio, but it will come with the car. All of the interior needs to be redone, the convertible top needs to be replaced, and it needs a new floor mat. On the convertible top the front wooden header is new and the rear wood is original and in good condition, and all of the convertible rails are functional, painted and ready for a top. The convertible top is a power top. If you like 47 Ford Convertibles, and are willing to put forth the funds and effort to purchase and finish this easy project you will have a piece of American history that will be the envy of the neighborhood, and that will enhance any car collection. In my opinion, a lot of quality work and money has been put into this car, this is the dream project, all of the hard dirty work is done, just let the upholstery guy do his thing and spend a few hours freshening things up and detailing, and you will have a very nice classic car. I am not the owner of the car, but I have tried to describe it to the best of my ability. I am sure that I missed something that you need to know, if so, please ask, and I will try to get you answers. Also, if you or your representative would like to inspect the car in person prior to the end of the auction, arrangements can be made. This car is being sold "as is" "were is" with no warranty. Buyer will be responsible for all costs relating to loading and transportation of vehicle. Terms of sale will be cash or bank to bank wire transfer. Vehicle and a good Missouri title will be furnished when payment in full has been received.
