Description 1931 Ford Model A Woodie Station Wagon
Listed on behalf of the owner.
Located near Portland, Oregon.
This 1931 Ford Woodie Wagon was restored with the goal to make it an exceptional tour car. The result exceeded the expectations. In fact, the current owner states: "This car is tour proven and probably the best driving Model A you will ever drive. I would not hesitate to jump in it and drive across the country tomorrow." That's a bold statement from a man who has owned and restored dozens of Model A's and toured thousands of miles over the past 25+ years.
Here is what went into this build:
Original chassis was fully restored and fitted with modern tuvbe shock absorbers (with coil-overs in the rear.) 16" wire wheels fitted with radial tires. Ford F-100 steering fitted. Upgraded to 4-wheel hydraulic brakes. Stops smooth and straight.
Original engine was fully rebuilt by marque expert, Frank Schurman. High compression head with balanced crankshaft and new babbitt bearings. Runs smooth, strong and quiet. Restored radiator with upgraded fan and packless water pump. Runs cool at all speeds. Borg Warner overdrive transmission was installed for high-speed highway driving. 12 volt electrical system with modern alternator. Turn signals. Numerous 12 volt power outlets, plus modern hot water heater in the cab for warm touring in the cool spring and fall.
Chassis was fitted with restored steel hood, cowl and front fenders. Rear fenders are fiberglass. Reproduction wood wagon body was reinforced and beautifully varnished. Front bucket seats were installed for comfortable long-distance touring. The original front bench seat was restored and is included. Rear bench was also restored. Seats belts fitted front and rear. High quality carpet front and rear. Receiver trailer hitch mounted to the frame. Front tool box below the radiator. Stone guard. Excellent chrome. Stainless steel bumpers. Full set of side curtains that are easily installed and removed.
Take a close look at the photos and video and you'll agree this is a great Model A Wagon that is perfect for club touring events or just enjoyable driving anywhere.
A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its quality. Please bid accordingly.
