This is a 1940 Ford Super Deluxe Station Wagon that is in excellent condition. Model year 1940 wagons sported a flatter roofline and two-piece tailgate. Each vehicle incorporated 445 board feet of lumber and were largely hand-built. Due to the low production number and extensive labor involved, the woody wagons were the priciest vehicles in Ford’s lineup at the time. The 1940 model came with new features like, “Finger-Tip Gearshift” column shift mechanism for the three-speed manual transmission, tailgate mounted... spare wheel and sealed beam headlamps. The . V-8 engine was carried on from the previous model and made 85hp at 3,800 RPM and 148ft.-lbs. of torque at 2,200 RPM. The hydraulic 12-inch front and rear drum brakes behind 16 x 4-inch pressed steel wheels were also carried over from the previous generation wagon. This example is in excellent condition, drives and handles great. Kent Bain of Automotive Restorations did an extensive restoration including the body woodwork several years prior.
