1951 Ford F-5 FUEL TANKER US Air Force Boeing Aircraft SOLID Flathead V-8
Description
1951 Ford F-5 fuel tanker. This truck looks awesome. It appears to be pretty much complete and it is very solid. Anyone with questions can call me at 620-786-4428. There are 40 pictures of this truck on my Facebook page under Nobody Else's Auto Recycling and we also did a short walk around video of this truck on my web show on YouTube or Facebook under "Nobody's Show" episode #7. This truck does have a clear, current Kansas title.
This truck has stickers on the door from the Forestry service, so that was apparently the last agency that used this truck. There is a metal tag on the door jamb that leads me to believe this truck had a very interesting history. The tag says "Boeing Airplane Company, Wichita Kansas and the tag is stamped U.S.A.F. The bed is a factory made unit and the tag on the bed was from a company in Wichita, KS also. I am guessing this truck may have originally been assigned to McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, but I have nothing to prove that. The truck does appear to have originally been a gray/blue color.
Body - The body on this truck looks really good for its age. The cab and sheetmetal all look very solid. The front fenders even look pretty decent. I have included a few pictures underneath the truck also. The hood will need some work. The grill looks good. The doors open and close fine. The doors on the side boxes both still open and close. The fill caps on top of the bed look awesome. They have a great shape to them and all three of them are still there. The bed is straight.
Interior - The interior is still intact, but it will need completely restored since the truck has been sitting for years.
Drivetrain - This truck does have what appears to be the original flat head V-8 in it. The truck is not running. The drivetrain does appear to all be intact, but I don't know anything about the condition of any of the components. The truck does roll fine and will load onto a trailer with no problems.
This is a great looking truck and it would make a cool patina truck. It would look really great restored in the original gray/blue air force type color with USAF trim on it. Anyone with questions or if you want to see the truck in person, call me at 620-786-4428. A non-refundable $1000.00 deposit is due within a week of the end of the auction.
