Description

This neat little 1928 Ford Model A Sedan is one of those great old cars that don't ask you to make any sacrifices to enjoy them. With a restoration aimed at making it a reliable and fun tour car, it retains all the Model A's charm that people look for in an antique. The first thing most folks notice on this handsome sedan are the colors, which are a fairly correct representation of the original two-tone... brown-on-sand combination offered in 1928. It's bright, sophisticated, and with contrasting black fenders, very stylish. The restoration is a few years old and given the driving modifications under the skin, it's safe to say that it's been driven and enjoyed, but overall it has a very pleasant, complete look that works quite well. The brown vinyl top is a beautiful addition that adds a touch of sophistication, and the rear-mounted spare tire and vintage trunk mean this Model A is ready for some longer distance touring. The doors fit well and in the interest of keeping everything safe, newer headlights were installed up front. The chrome shows very well but could use a bit of a polish, but on the other hand this is a car that you can hit the road without worries, so perhaps it might be best to just leave it as-is. Either way, you won't be disappointed with how it goes down the road. Inside, the upholstery is pretty correct for 1928, featuring beige mohair on factory bench seats that still feel comfortable on long trips. They're a lot more supportive than you'd think, and the classic patterns make it look very authentic. The centralized chrome gauge bezel and familiar controls are all there, joined by a 1928-only red rubber steering wheel, accompanied on the steering column by the overdrive selector. The back seat is spacious and the painted garnish moldings and dashboard surround give the modest Model A an upscale feel. Nicely fitted carpets with a heel pad for the driver help control noise and heat and up top the headliner is taut and clean, finishing the upscale look inside the antique cabin. Out back the vintage travel trunk has adequate room for luggage and currently houses a jack set and fire extinguisher. Mechanically, the 201 cubic inch inline-four that made the Model A famous is still in place, and much of the mechanical hardware has been freshened and maintained regularly. Of course, the multiple upgrades also help with reliability, and with that in mind the engine was treated to a 12-volt alternator in place of the original Powerhouse generator that makes this Model A so much more reliable in the real world. It starts with vigor but still has that classic Model A sound, and thanks to a 3-speed manual transmission with a highly desired overdrive and standard banjo-style rear end, it feels quite capable going down the road. The chassis is very solid and features a newer exhaust system, and painted yellow 21-inch wire wheels with correctly-sized 4.4/4.5x21-inch blackwall tires A classic Model A with its soul intact and just a few upgrades to enhance the driving experience. If that's your kind of fun, this Model A deserves a closer look. Call now!
