We could tell you how special a 1948 Ford F-1 is because it's the first year for the Ford F-Series pickups, but you can tell this one is far more unique than just its history. It looks like a restomod from its immediate first impression. But beneath the unique exterior are all the upgrades you want â€" including a custom A/C interior, upgraded chassis, overdrive transmission, and a fuel-injected V8 powerhouse. Take your time looking over the exterior,... because someone sure took their time creating the custom look. The front expertly integrates a much more modern F-Series front end on this classic sheetmetal. But there's much more going on here than just the custom face. The lowered suspension, 17-inch "Hot Wheels" alloys, beautiful real wood bed all mean no one will mistake this F-1 for a workhorse. Even the details are terrific, like the smooth hood, shaved door handles, expertly eliminated vent window, and the custom taillights to match the modern front end. All of this is amplified further thanks to an investment in a modern blue that's so electric we wouldn't be surprised it if glowed at night. Pop the remote door openers, and they reveal even more custom work on the inside. It starts with the terrific black seats. They have marine-grade vinyl for the high traffic areas, and comfortable microsuede inserts for the contoured individual seating. And with matching door panels and black carpeting, the whole package looks amazing. The dash looks especially clean, but that doesn't mean you're missing all the best features. You have power windows, an AM/FM/CD stereo, and ice-cold R134a air conditioning. And as you slip behind the wheel, this feels like a European sports car (the Austin Healey center cap reminds you why!) And the full AutoMeter gauge package continues this performance feeling. When people see the front tilt of the hood, they are going to expect something impressive in the engine bay...and this one doesn't disappoint! The famous Ford 5.0-liter fuel-injected V8 means this one earns its speedy appearance. Plus, the large Griffin aluminum radiator, headers, and X-pipe dual exhaust means it has the right upgrades for reliability and growling performance. Also, take some time to look under this truck. It shows more great upgrades like the Mustang II-style independent front end that features tubular A-arms and fresh bushings (there's less than 2,700 miles on the whole build.) And in the rear is a four-link with adjustable coilovers. Add in power steering, front disc brakes, and a four-speed automatic transmission w/highway-friendly overdrive, and this is a great all-around cruising classic. Here's a custom pickup built to grab all the attention, and it has the right features to be comfortable even on the long trips. That's a recipe for being known at all the car shows â€" near and far.
