Description

This auction if a 1932 Ford American LaFrance Firetruck. This truck belonged to a local fire company with the title showing that they purchased back in the early 60's. No one that was in the company at that time is still around, but one of the oldest members told me that when he joined the company the pump and Firetruck body had been removed and stored in one of the buildings, and the fire company has built a flat bed body on it with benches that ran down each side. The truck was then being used by the company to haul children around at their annual fair.
As the fair grew and more amusement rides came through the years, the truck was also parked in the building next to the body. Through the years after this the members often talked about restoring the truck but no one started on it. Until a member was charged with a DUI and needed to do a 100 hours of community service. So he decided to serve his sentence but restoring the truck. Well all he got done was to take the radiator and hood off along with the water pump and sanded on the body.
The truck was then left to sit in the n building again and through the years the radiator shell and water pump along with the lights were stolen.
Other then the few missing parts the truck is in very good shape. The body is extremely solid with only one dent about the size of a quarter and an equal size rust hole in the middle of the right door. The cowl and bottom of both doors as well as the rest of the sheet metal shows no other rust or damage other then some surface rust from when they sanded it.
The motor is free and should run. I haven't tried to start it though. The clutch is free and I am sure the rest of the drive train is in good working condition. Normally these old fire truck have very low mileage. The engine is stamped 54 so I am guessing that it was replaced at one time.
The pump and firetruck body is likewise in very good shape. It comes with a lot of equipment hoses and other items. All 4 fenders are in very good shape and the rears still retain the A.L.F step plates. I also have the rear step that would mount off the rear of the body. I do not know what GPM pump it is or any other thing about it. It also has 6 new tires mounted on the original rims to put it back to duel rear wheels.
I would like to see this truck sold as a unit but I also realize that it has more potential as a parts vehicle. The cab, fenders, hood and other body parts are the same for all 1932 Ford trucks. If the truck doesn't hit the reserve I will be parting it out. If there is anything someone might be interested in let me know.
As always if you have any questions or information please ask or let me know.
