A beautiful car that was a labor of love for the guy that restored it over a period of several years and reportedly well over $50k imvested. From the images included in an old picture book, the paint was done in 1997 with the restoration being finished on 2002. The original color of Cadet Blue has to be one of the best colors in '54.
A nut and bolt restored Black one sold for over $74,000 at Barrett Jackson. A red one sold in 2011 at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale for $55,000. A white one in Las Vegas 2011 for $49,500. This car is a bargain at this price for the work that's been done and the condition it's in.
I was told by his son that he took it to Concourse shows when it was first done. It doesn't appear to have been driven much at all since the restoration but there are some paint touch ups on the edge of the driver door and on the edge of the trunk lid. There are some other minor paint imperfections. Supposedly all the body work was done the old fashioned way with lead rather than bondo. I will add images of the undercarriage and floors soon.
The Y block is a 312 from a Thunderbird so it isn't the original engine but does look the same. Transmission is a 2 speed Fordamatic. The oil bath air filter has been converted to a paper filter. There have been modifications to the metal to make this work. The 6 volt system remains intact with original generator.
The car starts up and drives and stops really well. The power top is in good working order. We had this out to a car show this weekend and drove it about 50 miles.
