1949 Ford Shoebox Convertible
Description
Very clean, older restoration, original car. Everything is as it was when it rolled off the factory line. Includes 6 volt electric, 8ba flathead engine with a 3 speed "on the tree" transmission. The car is mechanically very sound, starting and stopping with no issues.
Up front the vehicle boasts Ford's first independent front suspension. And in the back is Ford's first venture away from the "banjo" transmission they had used since 1928. The 8ba was an improvement from the 59ab engine used from 1946-48.
This convertible is a great sunny day car. Lots of attention, especially with the top down.
All door and window mechanisms have been removed and lubricated. The fuel tank was replaced and the carburetor serviced. The front wheel cylinders were replaced and new floor boards and rocker panels professionally installed. New tube shocks were also installed.
The convertible top fabric is in excellent shape. There is one 3 inch section of piping on one of the seams which is frayed- easily replaced. The hydraulic pump which works the convertible top is in need of repair. A California Car Cover comes with the vehicle.
I purchased this vehicle almost 5 years ago and had it shipped across country for $1500. I can assist with getting it shipped to where you want it to go. Now it is being sold to fund another early Ford V8 build, this time for my 15 year old son. My loss, your gain.
