Description

Not cheap - so I'm in the Narrative Mode for describing what picky buyers want to read and know about what they are about to purchase. First time offered - SURVIVOR > 1962 Ford Custom F-100 Flareside (Step Side). Original Hub Ford Company (Atlanta - Georgia) sold new April 3, 1962 - fully documented records handed down to me. I am the second owner dating to 2003. The truck has been in Atlanta (still) since new and the condition shows it - a true Survivor. The pick up truck is essentially an all factory original specimen for general descriptive purposes - freshened to its original character along the way. Read 1962 history of the "Custom Cab" (top of the line) vs. the Base Model F-100. It's crazy!!. The basics include the original factory color "Holly Green" with one known personal repaint circa 2003 when acquired with still current good luster / shine. All original frame, sheet metal through out, RUST FREE and arrow straight. The interior maintains it original factory appearance to include the "factory twill seat covers" (see brochure pixs) replaced with NOS - Ford material and the original style "perforated" material headliner. This (not all) Flareside has the "very rare" side mount spare tire carrier with all factory original steel wheels and hub caps. The motor (292 V8 - "Y" Block) (yes - factory solid lifters / stock cam) has been maintained in its originally acquired condition; the original Holley 2-Barrel carburetor recently rebuilt with its original air breather, valve covers, manifolds, etc. in place. (No crazy last minute detail work and all to make it shiny). Motor is strong, revs quickly with throttle tap. All original FORD GLASS, side windows, side vents, rear glass; except windshield which is perfect too. The single exhaust / muffler was replaced in 2003 with factory type system. Starts immediately, maintains the original cab mounted manual choke switch - totally historic and old school originality. Clutch and brakes operate as they should, no slippage; no motor smoke. Currently needs the cab interior dome light fixture / cover replaced ($25) and horn hookup. Speedo / Factory Gauges (water temp, fuel) working condition. All glass in good condition, no chips or cracks. All windows, vent windows, kick panel vents in working condition. All window / door rubber in good condition. Original key / door locks in working condition. Original clutch, brake, throttle peddle rubber maintained. Full front rubber floor mat in like new condition. Fresh six quart oil change, Wix filter. This is not a restoration, it never needed one. It is the original truck with original color paint job that still shines like new as described above.
The only Non-Stock feature on the F-100 is a recent replacement (2018) of the wood plank bed liner with new northern Minnesota oak stained wood and stainless steel floor mounting strips / hardware. Never used for hauling anything harmful and the interior painted box sides remain in near perfect undented condition,. This is not a Standard F-100 with a bunch of the Custom Cab component add - on features like "restore shops" like to do - this is - as described a true survivor. I know by putting it out there - it may well be destined for the LS / Coyote Motor Crowd - but what can I do - the F-100 Custom Cab is not my teenage (former) virgin daughter. And this fine specimen will be running the streets well after I'm gone.
Purchased from the original owners estate, the truck came with substantial original documentation to include the original multiple year Georgia tag receipts (12+); Original owners manual (very detailed); Ford issued Warranty Booklet / Ford Document Folder; 1962 Ford Truck - dealer brochure; October 1962 "Esso" folded road map for Florida, Georgia & Alabama; early AAA Motor Card; and some dated parts receipts (new battery $19.96 ! from Richway 1972), etc. Mileage in Ad is the mileage on Odometer. Actual or unknown - don't know. It was a time capsule and still is.
I'm in the mode to sell some of my autos and soon retire. Up coming cars include 1983 Ford Bronco XLT and 1979 Jeep CJ7 - V8 / all in similar condition - so stay tuned. I'm going to try selling this Auction Style with a reserve. The truck has been made available locally and may sell to local buyer. Will answer Email questions - if any. Ask any and all questions if need be; BEFORE BIDDING. I may sell to the highest bidder even if Reserve (undisclosed) not met. Personal inspections welcome by Email appointment only. $750 deposit by PayPal due at end of auction. These listings cost time and money. Balance by Cash or Certified Check / Wire Transfer. Thanks for looking and good luck on finding the Ford truck you want.
