#'s-Matching, All-Original w/AC, Unmolested, Dual Consoles, Built in San Jose
Description
You're bidding on a 1968 Mustang Coupe in nearly all-original condition. It was built at Ford's San Jose, California plant. The Ford Ownercard ID indicates that it was sold at a Ford dealership in Dallas. The interior is original, and features both the upper and lower trim console (complete with shifter and warning lights).
The car has been repainted at least twice to its specified color, Sea Foam Green. It has 34,610 miles on its original, numbers-matching 289-2 barrel motor, and is equipped with the rare air conditioning option. It has dual exhaust and OEM Mustang wire wheel covers. The car was purchased in the Chicago area in 1985, and has been safely stored in a large, metal building since.
The car runs and drives, but idles roughly--likely due to old gas still in the tank. A new carburetor was recently installed, but we're convinced that the fuel system needs to be flushed. The underbody and floors are solid, but show surface rust. We tried to do the best we could with taking the underbody photos.
An aftermarket radio (with coaxial rear deck speakers) was installed by a previous owner, as was an aftermarket vacuum gauge (now located where the clock should be).
The car is being sold as-is. Given that it hasn't been driven in 10+ years, we recommend that the car be trailered to its final destination so its fluids can be properly flushed and replaced.
A $500 deposit (cashier's check) via US Mail is required within 5 days of the end of the auction. The balance can be paid either by cashier's check or cash upon pick-up in Mundelein, Illinois. We're happy to help coordinate with any transportation courier.
Good luck with your bidding!
