MotoeXotica has just the steed for you in this 1977 Ford Mustang II Cobra II Hatchback with a turbocharged 302 CID V-8 tucked under the hood! These Cobra II's are very hard to find and this one is largely original with the addition of a period correct turbo kit that runs very strong! As design work on the new Fox-body Mustang forged ahead toward production, Ford needed something in 1977 to keep high-performance folks interested in the car, particularly in light of competition from the Camaro Z-28 and Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Ford launched the Cobra II package for the Mustang in 1976 and continued it the following year. This example was made in Ford's Dearborn, Michigan factory, (code F), on May 17, 1977. It left the assembly line with the following options - Gold Cobra II Tape Stripes, T-roof, Cobra II Package, Center console, Bumper Protection Group, Rallye Package, V-8 Option Group and Tinted Glass, among others. The car was delivered locally to the Detroit, Michigan sales area, (DSO code 48), specifically to Stuart Wilson Inc., in Dearborn, where it was sold on June 22, 1977.The car's dressed in black (code 1C) with the aforementioned gold dual tape stripes. The paint and trim are in overall very good order, with only minor blemishes visible at close range. The car's body is straight and solid, the engine bay is quite tidy and the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the car.Under the hood is the correct 302 CID Cobra V-8 with an added aftermarket turbo kit. Backing it up is a four-speed manual transmission (code 6) with a 3.00:1 rear end (code 6). Driver convenience features include power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering and power brakes with discs in front and the lift-off T-top roof panels. This Mustang rolls on Cooper Cobra (what else?) Radial G/Ts at all four corners, size 215/70R14. Each one is mounted on a finned, black and silver Rocket alloy wheel. The tires are in very good order while the wheels are in good, original shape.Inside, the original black interior (code GA), with matching vinyl upholstery, is in overall excellent condition, especiallyfor a Mustang II. The front buckets and rear bench look good. A three-spoke Shelby Cobra steering wheel with black rim is present and looks great. The inner door panels are in good order, as is the dashboard with its brushed aluminum trim panels to offset the black padding. There are two aircraft-style toggle switches on the dash; one is for the fuel pump along with VDO ancillary gauges. The center console and shifter, which is topped with a white ball, look fine and a Philco AM/FM radio completes the interior. The 1977 model year introduced several minor styling changes and expanded color options for the Cobra II. Also new was a T-top option for the fastback featuring twin removable tinted glass panels. Midway through the 1977 model year, changes for the 1978 model year were pulled ahead to sell early. It is most notable on the Cobra II models, where the hood scoop was turned around to seem more aerodynamic and the graphics were revised. For decals, the over-the-top dual stripes running the length of the car were replaced with a single stripe and on the sides of the car the snake and "COBRA II" decals were replaced with large stripes raised to the middle of the body sides with large "COBRA" lettering in the middle. Louvers were added to the hatch and the side panel louvers only came in black. All the window and glass moldings were painted black as well.Competition to this Mustang II in 1977 included Buick's Skyhawk, Chevrolet's Camaro and Monza, Dodge's Challenger Colt, Mazda's RX-3, Mercury's Capri, Oldsmobile's Firenza, Plymouth's Arrow and Sapporo, Pontiac's Sunbird and Firebird and Porsche's 924.If you're in the market for a vehicle from the "Smokey and the Bandit" era, with similar colors but harder to find, you should stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars to check out this Ford Mustang II Cobra II with its extra, underhood kick.VIN: 7F03F202517This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 832 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
