1959 Ford Thunderbird Convertible, 5.0 HO Fuel injected, hotrod resto-mod
Description
I'm offering my 1959 Ford Thunderbird convertible resto-mod up for sale. I have owned this car for a dozen or more years. About 10 years ago the original drive-train was getting tired and I wasn't thrilled by it anyways. I found a wrecked well-cared for 1995 Mustang Gt with 80k on the 5.0 ho engine and transmission and decided this to be the match for my car. The new drive-train is still computer driven and fuel injected. It was installed properly and the engine runs flawlessly. The transmission wasn't as tight shifting over the years so it was recently rebuilt and is flawless now, also. I have put many miles on her since the swap and it has never let me down. It can be driven for hours like a new car. The drive-train has no leaks, no knocks, no noises and no smoke. It starts with the first turn of the key. The engine exhaust was also upgraded with louder mufflers so she has a nice throaty rumble. At the time of the swap, the air-ride system was installed also. It has four switches and the car can be dropped on the ground or driven through a flood. Other upgrades include front disc brakes, a Flaming River steering wheel and column, a new GM 605 steering gearbox, and a power rack. The original steering wheel went from 7 revolutions in turns to 3.5 revolutions. Such a nice difference, this doesn't handle like your grandpa's T-bird. It sits on painted steelies with chrome trim rings, and blessed with new Coker wide white wall radials. The paint on the vehicle is 11 years old and still shows very nicely. It is not perfect as it has some small chips and minor wear but nothing that would jump out at you. It is a very straight car and looks beautiful. The original color was sky blue, but I upgraded to a 1979 Lincoln silver blue metallic which looks perfect on her. The interior on the car has been replaced as well as the carpets also. The convertible top was also new back when. It is a dark blue high quality Hartz top. The temperature and fuel gauges have been upgraded with aftermarket and work nicely. The speedometer is original and has been changed to an electronic sender and sometimes reads 10mph too slow. The original radio is present but I have a am/fm cd player mounted in the trunk area so the original radio is not working. The heat works great, all lights and signals work fine. The vacuum wipers are very slow. All glass in the car is nice without any cracking or hazing. Most all chrome including bumpers is new with the exception of some minor pitting on the vent window chrome. The underside is very presentable and clean. The car is not being represented as a trailer queen but would do just fine at any show or cruise-in. It is a crowd- pleaser and a perfect driver quality car. I have much more money invested in this car but I need to down-size as I am getting older. If you have any further questions please call me at 419 304 3246 10am-9pm. Winning bidder is responsible for transportation but I will assist in any way possible. It can also be picked up by buyer. I welcome and prefer any inspections. This must be done prior to purchase, not after. I must receive a $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction ending through PayPal and the remainder can only be paid by certified bank check or cash upon pick-up. No PayPal for the remaining balance. I will also be listing on other sites so I have the right to end auction if sold elsewhere. Thank you and good luck, it is a nice car.
