1968 427 Side Oiler Mustang
Description
There is a lot of personal history with this car considering that I have owned it for 46 years. It started life as a white exterior, red interior, 289 2 bbl and 4 speed. Over the years everything has been changed/upgraded to big block specs. Front springs, 9" rear end, 1 3/8" toploader, big block radiator (just replaced since pictures), front disc and oversized rear brakes etc. The engine is a Genesis cast iron block professionally prepared with 4.250" bore X 4.125" stroke yielding 468 CID. SCAT crank and H beam rods with Diamond pistons which runs on pump gas. Comp Cams solid roller cam, heavy duty rocker shafts, roller rockers and billet stands. Heads are Edelbrock Stage 2 CNC ported and polished. Carbs are (2) 750 CFM Quick Fuel built for this engine and progressive linkage. Intake is a 2 X 4 Blue Thunder Medium Riser ported to the heads. Edelbrock aluminum water pump, 2 X 4 oval air cleaner with K&N filter. Direct drive fan has been replaced by a large electric fan behind the radiator manually operated. Mallory Unilite distributor and Accel spark box with adjustable rev limiter.
The rest of the drivetrain is as follows: Ram 12" clutch and pressure plate, Lakewood bellhousing, New David Kee big in/out wide ratio toploader transmission, Hurst shifter, driveshaft loop and new 9" 3.50 Traction-Loc 31 spline rear end. Hooker ceramic coated headers with Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust system. Engine, transmission and rear end have approximately 5,000 miles since installed. The interior is now black (headliner, seats, carpet, dash etc). Front seats are 1969 Mach 1 Comfortweave. Console is a 1967 Mustang restored. Autometer in dash gauges (oil, vacuum, water temperature). Steering column mounted tach. Mustang 3 spoke wood/chrome steering wheel. Trunk has the batteries with disconnect switch and carpet kit. The exterior is now Diamont Concord blue metallic. The white "C" stripes are paint not the factory stick on. GT fender emblems and gas cap - did not want any engine identification on the car. Wheels are 1969 Mach 1 chrome style steel with BFG Radial T/A tires. Comes with 2 of these wheels widened to 8" with 50 series Radial T/A's to quickly change the gear ratio to around 3.80. So much has been done to this car over the years that I probably have left out a few things. One thing is sure - I have a ton of money and time in it and you won't see another one like it. With the GT500's going for serious money this is a chance for someone to get the same or better package for a whole lot less. Anyone wishing to look at it in person is free to do so - might even take you for a ride but make sure you go to the bathroom first. This is a no reserve auction and once the bids go above my ultra low starting figure someone will own it. I hate to let it go but at my age it is time for someone else to enjoy the fruits of my labor.
