Description

You are looking at a Total Rebuild from Bare Metal '65 Mustang 2+2 Fastback ... a 4 year project with 850 miles sincecompletion
They didn't make them like this in 1965!
You are looking at a total nut and bolt restoration of a San Jose built 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback. The project started with a complete tear down and glass bead strip to bare metal inside and out. It was then painstakingly rebuilt over a 4 year period from ground up. The rear suspension is Total Cost Involved's Torque Arm unit while the front is their independently sprung set up with oversize anti sway bar and power steering connected to your hands by an Ididit fully adjustable steering column.Brakes are slotted and grooved Wilwoods with RideTech single coil over adjustable shocks all around. The Wilwood master cylinder is equipped with a proportioning valve for modifying your set up for any use.
Running gear is a Ford Racing 306 cu in, 340 hp crate #M-6007-x302 w/ GT 40 aluminum heads, MSD ignition, Mahle pistons and Holley 670 cfm carb. This set up is mated to a TCI Streetfighter race-built 525 hp C4 transmission through a B&M 50339 Flexplate which connects to a 9" Curry TruTrack rear end. All of this is cooled by a Ron Davis twin fan Baja ready radiator. Custom built 2 1/2" exhaust flows through MagnaFlow mufflers producing a classic V8 sound that thrills. The oversize 3/8" gas lines are new as are all brake lines and fittings.
We didn't stop there! The custom interior is black leather w/red stitching over new foam with over size bolsters for better seating during hard driving. Omega gauges provide all the information you need in a 6 gauge array. All glass has been replaced and factory spec while the front windshield is Carlite as original. Weather stripping, cat whiskers, headliner, carpet and sound proofing is all new. Switches and locks are new. We did move the Optima battery and kill switch to the carpeted trunk. Tires are Hankook 235/ZR45/17's mated to American Racing rims.
We took great pains to keep the car close to original in appearance and have replaced brightwork woth original or re-manufactured originals. A few original parts can be found by the trained eye but are fully functional and in great shape.
This vehicle has just over 800 miles since its restoration was complete. It runs great and straight and hugs corners like acompetition sports car. It won Best of Show in its first outing against 250+ collector and specialty cars at the 37th All Ford Show in Portland this summer. It has won Best in Class or Best of Show in several other local shows this year as well. Complete parts list book comes with the car at sale.
If you are looking for a car that runs great, shows well and that can turn a key (as well as a lot of heads) and drive cross country or win at autocross, this is it! I can help arrange (arrange, not pay for) shipping for you.
