This is a true old-school speed machine. In fact, while most 1923 Ford Roadster rod/racer machine are a more recent built, this has more than a half-century of history. And while its legacy makes it interesting, the 406ci V8 with dual quads on top make it irresistible. This one has the look of a true classic racer. In fact, the build dates back to 1965. It has the right pieces like a Bird fiberglass body, Speedway windshield frame,... and the unmistakable look of polished Cragar SS wheels on whitewalls. And you just know that all those decals were EARNED over the years. But this isn't just a car with history. The boldness of the Yosemite Yellow, the crisply clear headlights, and overall quality tells you this is has been given the right mix of respect and updates over the years. There's even some nice pinstriping for flair. The interior tells you this was built to be a true racer. The full roll cage, racing seat w/harness, passenger jump seat, and fuel cell in the trunk are all part of this competition-focused package. The steering wheel feels grippy in your hands, and your right one may never want to leave the B&M shifter. The dash gives you all the essential gauges. And the large Sun Super tach on the column and shift light seen thought the windshield give you a very cool vintage-style head-up display of what's the most important. The classic Corvette-script valve covers may look vintage, but the motor package is part of the updates later in life. This is a 400 cubic-inch V8 bored .30 to 406 ci total. That means you get small block weight with big block displacement. Plus, on top of that are two sets of Edelbrock 500 CFM four-barrel carburetors and an Edelbrock intake. So this mighty motor knows how to inhale deeply. Plus, it's a total package with a Summit cam, roller rockers & lifters, aluminum Edelbrock heads, Mallory distributor, and Melling high pressure oil pump. So it's a powerful package, and it really knows how to bring the thunder. And you have a choice of the headers feeding the side pipes, or you can use the cutouts to really make this roar. This has a TH350 three-speed with manual valve body and a Hurst line lock. It connects to a 4.11 rear end with Positraction for powerful take-offs. Hairpins up front, four-link in the rear, and power brakes complete this vintage race-ready package. When you have a cool racer with this kind of history, it's great to also have magazine clippings to show it all off (that's why they come with the sale.)
