Description
1939 Ford Coupe with 1940 Ford trim, 1940 headlight bezels (new), taillights (new), front bumper (new), '40 Deluxe Hood and grill.
Car is sitting on a 1938 chassis (titled as a 1938 Coupe … matches vin stamped on frame by old Henry) with Hydraulic brakes and tube shocks on the front. Running a 1953 Merc Flathead (255 cid), 3-speed floor shifted trans, newer dual exhaust. Converted to 12volt and running a GM alternator. In the last year all glass was replaced along with rubbers and window felts & new running board covers. In the last month I replaced the following items to make it ready for worry free cruising:battery (new), starter solenoid (new), and all 4 tires (new). Speedo and lights work (headlights & taillights). 14" front / 15" rear torque thrust style mags give it that cool '60's look.
i have also added a newly upholstered front seat, package tray, door panels. New headliner in the box in the trunk. Since i am not going to add this to my project list for the winter I have decided to also let the following collection of parts go with the car :
- 9" Ford rear end housing with Currie axles, has rear buggy spring mount for 1936-1940 Ford and coil-over brackets (new)
- 9" Ford center section ... 3.70 ratio, traction-lock (used)
- Split-Wishbones (used)
- 4" dropped front axle with spindles attached and front spring (all new)
- dropped steering arms and drag links (new)
- Saginaw 525 steering box (used) and bolt-on frame mount (new)
- rear coil over shocks (new)
- Front Disc Brake conversion kit ..rotors,pads,calipers,brackets,hoses (new)
- Rear Disc Brake conversion kit ..rotors,pads,calipers,brackets,hoses (new)
- dual reservoir brake master cylinder (new)
- chrome rear bumper (new) and rear bumper brackets (used)
Body is straight, all trim fits tight, floors and underneath are solid, as is tailpan, decklid, hood and trunk floor. Doors fit great and close and open easily.
car is just a fun hotrod that I have enjoyed every time I have taken it out
