Description

1929 Ford Model A Sedan

The Ford Model A was the Ford Motor Company's second market success after its predecessor, the Model T. First produced on October 20, 1927, but not introduced until December 2, it replaced the venerable Model T, which had been produced for 18 years. This new Model A (a previous model had used the name in 190304) was designated a 1928 model and was available in four standard colors. By February 4, 1929, one million Model As had been sold, and by July 24, two million. The range of body styles ran from the Tudor at $500 (in grey, green, or black) to the Town Car with a dual cowl at $1,200. In March 1930, Model A sales hit three million, and there were nine body styles available. Model A production ended in March 1932, after 4,858,644 had been made in all body styles.

Presenting in overall fair condition this 6 Window Model A sedan has mostly new chrome recently put on, and some extra new cosmetics applied. This car runs smoothly and has a comfortable interior. Priced right for its condition, it could use some TLC on the exterior paint.

Exterior
Showing areas of some inconsistent gapping, the steel panels are rust free. Some have been painted in what could be a different color of burgundy, however it could be due to fading and only certain areas being resprayed. The front grille surround and headlights, as well a bumper below are very nicely recently re-plated. Side mirror and searchlight have not been re-plated, although door handles and rear bumper have undergone a re-plating. Black fenders connected by running boards hold their shapely figures well, and frame 19" straw color steel spoked wheels.

Interior
Opening any one of the 4 doors, we are greeted by gray cloth panels, nice and tight, and sporting a pocket for storage. Dual red benches sit atop a land of gray short pile carpet, which is in very nice condition. White piping runs throughout on the borders of the gray carpet. The metal dash and "mask" style insert for instrument cluster have not been restored, and a speedometer gauge is nonexistent. The original steering wheel is present and works great. The headliner is tight with no stains and in gray color.

Drivetrain
Sitting in an unrestored engine bay, the 201ci 4-cylinder engine it topped by a 1-barrel carburetor and has a 3-speed manual transmission.

Undercarriage
Surface rust abounds; however, it has not become invasive, therefore leaving this car structurally sound. Other than not being as visually appealing, leaf spring suspension, and mechanical drum brakes are seen all around and work fine.

Drive-Ability
This car starts easily, runs smoothly, and has not a bad ride for being from 1929. Brakes are good, and it was a fun driver.
A few areas where some TLC will bring it right back to a good car, or you could hop in and enjoy it in its patina form, as it runs great, and is very comfortable inside, and you will not get rained on with the roll up windows.
