This 1946 Ford Half-ton Pickup Truck would have been among those units expected to satiate demand in late 1945 and into 1946. If you are after a true survivor Ford pickup truck from this era, this would make a excellent candidate.Finished in Willow Green, this truck’s paint and trim, which are almost completely original, are full of patina. The glass and lights are in good, original order, the almost all-original bodywork is straight, the engine bay is in decent shape and the cargo bed looks pretty okay for its old age. The chrome front bumper is in good, original order and there’s a side-operated spare tire mount on the driver’s side that has space for a tire and wheel. This truck has a 114-inch wheelbase and a 4,700 gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR).This truck rolls on Allstate wide whitewalls, mounted on steel wheels topped with chrome factory covers. The tires are in good, original condition while the wheel covers are in very good condition.Underhood is Ford’s famous Flathead V-8 engine, here in 239 CID form, one of the 100-horse Motors. Backing it up is a three-speed manual transmission. This truck has been converted to a 12-volt electrical system, complete with alternator.Inside, the tan bench seat is in great shape while the green headliner’s patina matches that of the exterior. The two-spoke steering wheel, inner door liners and instrument panel are all in good, original order and the dash has full instrumentation, including a half-moon speedometer. A floor-mounted transmission lever and a functioning underdash heater complete the interior.This new series of Ford pickup trucks featuring all-new styling that was instantly recognizable. The front end now had a slightly protruding flat-faced panel. It incorporated the headlights and the waterfall painted vertical bars grille. The Ford name was printed in the molding on the face of the hood, just above the grille. The parking lights were mounted on the fenders near the headlights. There were louvers on the side of the hood. Originally, the floor of the welded pickup bed was steel with steel strips stamped in a hardwood floor beneath. The Ford script on the hubcaps was stylized to give a winged effect. It was available with both six-cylinder and a V-8 engine.
