Description

1927 T-Bucket Hot Rod with Flathead Ford V8

I am selling this home built Street Rod that I recently purchased because I can not fit in the cockpit (that’s me in the video). I bought this vehicle because I was very impressed by the drivetrain set up. If I don’t sell it I plan to use this drivetrain to build a ’32 coupe.
This vehicle was built by a friend who is a retired engineer. The body is from Spirit Industries and sits on a jig welded frame that is perfectly straight. The fiberglass body is is very traditional Hot Rod styling and has a nose piece that looks like it came from a Kurtis Kraft Sprint Car or Midget dirt tracker from the 1950’s. Coker tires ride on new wheels painted to match the car with fresh beauty rings and dog dish hub caps. As I mentioned, the cockpit area is rather tight for large drivers.
The chassis has a 4-bar suspension with a dropped axle and disc brakes in front and coil over rear springs. The power plant was sourced from a late model Ford Flathead (1949 thru 1953). It was completely rebuilt from the bottom up by a renowned Pittsburgh Flathead specialist. This motor was balanced, ported and relieved and has been set up with adjustable tappets. There are Offenhauser finned heads which always look cool and work great. Gas is delivered from a rubber fuel tank by an electric fuel pump through dual Super 97 carbs on an Offy manifold. (I just added chokes to those carbs right after the video was done). Exhaust headers flow into custom built pipes. This motor is completely fresh and as you can see in the video it runs and sounds great. The 12 volt electrical system has a late model wiring harness and powers an electronic ignition. Cooling is accomplished by a custom made radiator assisted by an electric fan. Driveline goes through a 3-speed manual transmission to an S-10 rear end that is geared high for highway driving.
Cosmetically this Flatty Hot Rod looks very good if not perfect. We have tried to give a comprehensive view of everything pertinent in our video and large format still photos. There is a small crack in the windshield which pointed out in the photos. All the lights and signals are in proper working order, and it has a current PA State Safety Inspection good to August of 2020. Many of the parts have come from Speedway Motors parts in completing the build and there have been just over 2K miles logged since finished.
This vehicle is licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a Street Rod and has a current State Safety Inspection that is valid through August 2020. It runs good but it is definitely too small for me to fit in. I would not recommend it for anyone over 5’10”. The car is currently located in Waynesburg PA which is just off exit #14 of I-79.
E-mail any questions or call John at (724)833-2203. We will do our best to answer all questions to the best of our ability but in order to be fair to all bidders we do not disclose the reserve. I may be able to assist with delivery in the Eastern United States. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
