Description

1933 Ford Model 40 Deluxe Cabriolet

Expertly restored with modern enhancements to ensure safe and comfortable road-going capability! All stock appearance with late generation 221ci 21-stud V8, upgraded hydraulic braking, 12-volt charging system, electronic cooling fan and fuel delivery system! High list of accessories on this Deluxe model that will not disappoint! Excellent buy!

Ford was definitely running with a head of steam after a hugely successful 1932 model year production with the new Ford V8 leading the way. That didn’t stop Henry Ford from revising his platform once again to give the V8 a larger, more elegant presentation. This included a longer wheelbase to 112” with a new cross member frame, revised slopping grill pointed at the bottom, a hood extending into the cowl to add to the longer look, bowed bumpers, and 10 extra horsepower from the already popular V8 engine! Today, the 1933 Ford V8 is a stand-out in both standard and deluxe trims among collectors worldwide. The car offered here is no exception!

Located in Nashville, Tennessee, this 1933 Ford Model 40 Deluxe Rumble Seat Cabriolet was professionally frame off restored in 2000. Ideally restored with original appeal in mind, a few mild upgrades ensure this to be an excellent road worthy investment. Finished in period correct Emperor Brown with Black fenders & Tacoma Cream wire wheels and pinstripe accent, it is equally complimented with Brown Leather interior! Under the hood is a 1937 model 21-stud V8 Flathead with cast iron 77E-6050-A 7.5:1 compression heads with center-located cooling ports offering 94 factory rated horsepower! This later generation 21-stud engine not only offers better cooling, but replaceable main bearing and insert bearings for connecting rods. An easy preference for engine builders. A 3-speed transmission delivers power to the ground with ease. Smooth clutch engagement without chatter, easy gear selection, and ample power from the engine is hard to match when going doing the road!

Features on this Deluxe model include rear rumble seat, rear-mounted spare with hard cover, KD Lamp Co. amber colored fog lamps, greyhound hood ornament, original Stewart Warner/Ford instrumentation, front bumper guard, electric windshield wiper, chrome windshield surround, dual chrome horns, dual tail lamps, whitewall Firestone Deluxe tires measuring 5.25/5.50-17; wood grained dash, door moldings, and front windshield surround; roll-up windows, beveled glass interior rearview mirror, Ha-Dees cabin heater, and auxiliary hood holders.

The frame off restoration was expertly executed starting with a fully disassembled, painted, and rebuilt chassis with fresh suspension. The rebuilt drivetrain was installed with rotisserie painted body, all new body mounting hardware and brand new cloth-covered wiring with 12-volt negative ground electricals. Upgrades include hydraulic braking, a Holley 2100 Model EC carburetor, alternator charger system, electric fuel delivery system, auxiliary 14” electronic cooling fan, stainless steel cooling tubes, and true dual exhaust with V8 turn-down tips. It recently received a new battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel regulator, and minor ignition tune to ensure optimum performance this spring. It is an impressive road going example with special attention to all aspects to make it a delight to use from the moment you engage the starter! The all steel body is remarkably solid everywhere you inspect, the rumble seat opens easily, and the convertible top fits without any wresting whatsoever. The paint and chrome all remain in very good condition, and the upholstery shows little to no wear. This is an extremely hard example to find on the market, and our 1933 Deluxe Cabriolet should make for a wonderful investment. Please feel free to schedule an inspection for yourself. Thanks for looking!
