Description

1973 MACH 1

This is a pristine MACH 1 with a California pedigree (1973 to 2015). I bought it a little over a year ago and drove it from central California to Missouri. I had the route 66 urge. It’s a beautiful numbers matching, rust free car. I have the Marty report (image included in the photos) and the car is correct to the Marty except in a few minor ways.

·The 351 Cleveland was rebuilt about 3 years ago (I think) but only has a few thousand miles on it. It was bored .030 over, 4 barrel Edelbrock carb, headers and MSD ignition. The Marty says it had a 2 barrel carb when purchased new.

·The transmission (FMX Cruise-O-Matic) was overhauled at the same time as the engine. The rebuild receipts for the engine and Trans come with the car.

·The original rear end was a 2:75 conventional rear axle, I replaced it with a 3:25 Detroit locker (aka traction lock, aka posi) a few months ago and it has less than 300 miles on it. I kept the 2:75 and it comes with the car so that the originality can be maintained.

·I also recently redid most of the dash panels and fitted a 1974 Lincoln AM/FM 8 track stereo (works great), along with a USB charging port and a 12 VDC power port. The Marty says it was built with the AM/FM stereo, but not the 8 track.

·I wish I could call it a survivor, but it’s been repainted (to its original color). A sharp eye will catch that the striping is 1971/1972 vintage. The car was delivered in December 1972, and I think there is some confusion as to whether the car came with the 1972 or 1973 stripes. I prefer the 71/72 stripes, but have a hunch the car came with the 73 stripes originally. Also the wheels are not original and have been changed to 17” craigers with Nitto tires.

·Other recent changes that I have had done include a high throughput aluminum water pump, a new power steering pump, a balanced set of chrome pulleys and the MSD tach adapter. A new top of the line Interstate Megatron battery was installed late last year. The rear window louvers are also brand new.

·On the negative side, there is a small hole in the driver’s seat at the join to the bottom of the seat, and the Tach does not work. When I had the MSD adapter installed we discovered that the tach was defective. I bought a replacement gauge set (Tach, gas and speed), that is very nice (even the trip meter numerals are bright white). This will come with the car, along with the dash panels I replaced and two new panels I choose not to install (these have resale value). There is also a period correct AM radio that comes with the car. One last point, it should have the speedo gear replaced due the gear ratio change. GPS says it’s a consistent 10 MPH high.

Title is clear.

She’s a strong runner and a real head turner and it is a shame to keep it in the garage as she really wants to run.

I need $500 down thru PayPal with the balance paid with a bank cashier’s check within 7 days (5 business days) of purchase. Buyer is responsible for shipping, but I expect it would be fun for you to drive it home.

Thanks for bidding!
