Description

Mostly original example of a 1938 Ford Standard Coupe except for mechanicals. The engine is a later version of Ford's famous flathead V8 with headers and dual exhaust. I have installed 39 hydraulic brakes that still need some adjustment and possibly have the drums turned. I believe the interior is all original except for obvious aftermarket cover on seat bottom. I have no idea of condition of original seat bottom upholstery. Car with need new tires, old Fisk tires are literally down to threads but still hold air. Front spring has reversed eyes and I installed a CE tube shock kit. Sale includes new (uninstalled) running board covers, a partially installed Drake rear shock and sway bar kit, new (uninstalled) rubber floor mat and all original parts that I removed. The 39 clutch pedal arm was bent too far in order to clear frame and will need to be heated and bent back in order to install the floor mat and use original pedal holes. Also needs a 1939 clutch release arm to get the linkage to line up properly. These are available from Drake. I have a workable setup in it but it should be changed for long term reliability. Paint is a lacquer repaint with some cracking. It shows well with a deep shine. There are two small dents in right rear fender courtesy of previous owner. Should be an easy repair. Floorboards are solid with some pinholes in driver front floor. Frame is solid. Stainless trim is all there and in good condition with a few minor dings. Windshield surround is very nice. Bumpers are driver quality with some flaws, they are probably original chrome. Windows roll up and down as they should and windshield opens easily. Quarter and rear windows have delamination issues. I have tried to give an accurate and honest description of the car. I'm selling it because I'm tempted to make it a resto-mod but if there is a buyer out there looking to restore one of these cars to original condition this one is worth a look Any questions or requests for more pics are welcome and would glady show the car to buyer or representative. No trades.
