Description
For sale: 1967 Ford F250 4x4 highboy true survivor barn find from the western desert. One family owned till recently, lived life in dry California and moved to equally dry central Montana when the original owner passed and left the truck to a relative here. Straight and rust free, body is as nice as I've seen in a very long time. It's an iconic truck that was built in the days when men were men, and trucks were for getting the job done. Low 81k original mile truck that's ready for work or play.
Exterior: Original Wimbledon white paint except hood, which was repainted at some point and has baked, adding a great patina to the truck. No rust other than small surface/discoloration spots as shown in pics. This truck is as dry as I've seen in many years - really an astonishing true survivor. Even floors and inside of box have only light minor surface rust - unheard of in these trucks. Very few minor dings, see pics, a couple in tailgate and there is a small hole drilled in cab for camper wiring. Glass is good including windshield. Grille and trim in decent survivor condition with no major damage. Front bumper is slightly tweaked. Inside of box is in good condition as shown. Link to underside pics below, cab mounts are excellent and no areas of concern underneath.
Interior: Original seat in good condition with a few tears low on the sides. All gauges working, heater, wipers, parking brake all work. Lights and turn signals work. Aftermarket radio doesn't have a speaker. Dash was cracked and dash cap has been added. Previous owner decided to pull floor mats to check for rust, found no significant rust, and just painted a little primer on them. His wife accidentally threw out the floor mat, so truck needs replacement mat or carpet - both readily available and inexpensive from LMC or others. Window regulators need to be taken apart and lubricated on both sides, you have to "help" the windows up and down.
Mechanical: Starts, runs, drives and stops fine. Original 352 V8 runs well and there's no noises or smoke, and oil pressure is fine. Doesn't heat. Trans shifts fine and I tested 4x4 and transfer case in all 4L and 4H. Throwout bearing does chatter occasionally. Since the truck is so solid, I decided to invest the money to have the exhaust upgraded to all new duals with turbo mufflers - high quality job. If you haven't driven these old trucks, there is no power steering or brakes or A/C, and they are low geared, so adjust your expectations accordingly. They are not comfortable interstate cruisers, but they are dead nuts reliable, easy to repair, and tough as hell. I had the truck checked over and serviced by a professional mechanic, and he is certain the 81k miles shown are correct. There is one noticeable engine oil leak that will leave a stain on the floor, mechanic thinks it's the cork gasket at the back of the intake manifold and that will need replacement at some point. Bias ply tires on the truck are rough riding, and follow every rut. I put a set of later steel non-split rim wheels and radials on for a while and the truck drove great. Buyer can choose between original split rims and old school bias ply knobbies shown, or radials and later steel wheels. Both sets of tires have some weather cracking. Truck has auxilliary gas tanks, haven't tried them, I have only run off main tank.
Pricing/Misc: A friend here locally just sold his original 71 F250 4x4 in great survivor condition for $14k. This truck is just about as nice, less the hood paint and floor mat. I'm out of storage, so I set the reserve under $4900 for quick sale. Remember, all vintage cars and trucks need some work and there are always items to tinker with on them. This truck is nearly 50 years old, so keep that in mind. Keywords

You are welcome and encouraged to personally inspect the truckprior to bidding.I'm not a dealer, I don't do this for a living, I'm an enthusiast. If you'd like any detailed photos of a specific area of the truck, just ask! I have many photos of it but will be glad to take more if needed. Please ask any questions you like before bidding. You will be answered quickly and honestly.Transport isreadily available, and definately cheaper than fixing rust on an eastern tetanus truck. Montana title isclear with no liens. Truck runs well, but flying in and driving the truck home isn't advisable. This is a rural state with a long way between towns and cell service is spotty. After the sale, I can store the truck for up to 30 days free, after that $100 per month storage will be due. Buyer needs to get insurance as soon as car is paid for as I will cancel mine at that time.
