Description

This 58 retractable came from Arizona, the man I bought it from said he bought it from the original owners widow. If your familiar with the 58s you know that the had serious rust issues, in the northern states they rusted away. This car is 90% rust free, there is some bubbling in the lower outer rear quarters, surface rust on the roof,as you can see in the pictures.I was told that the engine was rebuilt at some point by the original owner, it runs strong with no smokingand the transmission shiftsas it should. This car goes down the road straight and stops good, it is riding on decent radial tires on older T-bird wire wheels. The car is equipped with factorya/c, Select Air, the a/c doesn't work but components are there. It has the 352ci 300hp V8 with Cruise-O-Matic 3spd transmission. This car is complete but needs to be restored, could be driven as is, orjust a little body work and paint, or, what it deserves, a complete restoration, these 58s are rare and hard to find that don't have a ton of rust. Now for the top, you can see by the pictures it does go up and down, all the motors, cable drives and worm gears work, they just do not work with the main switch. I have to use a jumper wire at the solenoids for each faze of opening and closing the top. I am sure this is just a mater of cleaning and adjusting the different switches and contacts, the wiring all looks good, no signs rodents eating on the wires etc. I have a 59 retractable and thought it would be nice to have a 58 as well, I bought this car in 2012, it has just been sitting in my shop waiting for its turn. I don't see me doing it anytime soon soit is looking for a new home, I don't have to sell it, I want to sell it, so I am not prepared to give it away, if it doesn't sell it will just continue to wait for me to get caught up and fix it.It is for saleon other sites so I reserve the right to end this auction if I sell it local. Thanks for looking, I am happy to answer any and all questions about the car and can provide any additional picturesyou might like via email. This vehicle is being sold as is where is with no guaranties either written or implied.
