Description

This is what you would call a barn find in Alaska, a true story that has video documentation with it.
This vehicle was purchased from the original owner in 1977 for the purpose of being used at a remote cabin in the matanuska/susitna valley. One problem, the cabin is so remote that the vehicle needs to be flown in. Helicopters were scarce and costly in 1977 and it was decided that a Shorts "sky-van" would be used to fly the Bronco in. Now to find a pilot that would tackle the 900 foot airstrip.
A search ensued, and someone was found that said "no problem". That was until he arrived over the airstrip with the bronco and saw exactly how short it was. After four attempts at the approach it was "do or die" and the aircraft was committed (all on Super 8) that was it, he used ALL the available runway and the Bronco had arrived.
It was useful, but not as much as we thought it would be, and so it sat for almost 40 years under cover being driven no more than 2 miles every year. Fast forward to 2016 and we decided that the Bronco has some value to it, but not too us. So it was flown out.
Here it sits, it has an aftermarket top that the original owner put on for some reason, it is road worthy, and has a current title and registration. Engine runs well (302 V8), but this is probably a complete restoration project for someone. It is sold AS-IS.
Buyer pays any and all costs associated with shipping, which I ESTIMATE will be about 1500-2000 dollars. Vehicle runs, drives, but has not seen the open road in some time. Drove 50 miles from where it was flown into to my home in Anchorage, drives fine for 40 years old. Missing side view mirrors, turn signals are inop, brake lights, headlights work. Floor boards have some surface rust but are not rusted through like so many others. Original owner installed the aftermarket top, appears homemade, but that was in 1977. Window panes are made of Lexan, but do operate. I have video documentation of the arrical and departure, as well as the original title that the State of Alaska allowed me to keep, after issuing a new one. This is quite the story, and when restored, will make quite the vehicle for someone. I have plenty of pics that I will be happy to email serious bidders.
Item is for sale locally as well, seller reserves the right to end this auction early if I sell it locally.
Thanks for the interest.
