Description

I'm 79 and the time has come to reduce my car count. This is a Missouri built car which ended up in New York sometime in the 80's. It had and earlier repaint that has some chips but is presentable. The car sat in a building since 1992 before I purchased it in 2013 and I think I know why. Someone had installed a '49 8BA flathead, however they tried to use the 59A-B pan on it. The front rod bolt just touched the pan and they thought the engine knocked. You have to use a truck pan when you install thelater engine which I did. I pulled the engine and transmission and rebuilt it the right way. The engine is .040 over with an Isky 3/4 grind cam and adjustable lifters. While the engine was at rebuild I installed a new clutch and pressure plate and rebuilt the transmission. The engine has an electronic distributor with mechanical advance and runs strong and cool. I installed an electric fuel pump as aback up and it is controlled by a switch. Car has all new brakes with wider 15"wheels andDiamond Back radial wide white walls. Car is slightly lowered with new Posie reversed eye front spring. The rear uses slightly longer shackles and has a rear sway bar in addition to the stock track bar. It has new gas shocks all around and new dual exhaust with Red's headers. Not loud. just mellow. The steering is smooth and tight and I am convinced that the speedometer reading of 72,000 miles is actual however I have no way of proving that.

The interior had been redone in thepast but was dirty from sitting around. I completely removed it and installed Dynamat insulation top and bottom, doors, quarter panels and trunk. The covers were removed and cleaned and the seat padding was redone as needed. Dash and window trim was repainted. I also installed a new headliner, wind lace, window channels and sweeps. Car has been converted to 12 volt and dash gauges have voltage drops. I've had a number of these cars over the years and this one is thetightest, best handling and strongest running one I've had. The 3.54 to 1 rear gear allows it to run 60 to 65 mph easily.

I do all of my own work except engine machining. I love these old Fords and I think anyone who buys this one will love it too.
