Description

Up for auction is a rare 1969 Ford Mustang MACH 1 “R CODE” 428 4-speed car. This car has one of the best foundations for a complete restoration project you will ever find. The car is VERY VERY solid. There are a few spots which I have photographed that are rusted but overall this original Florida car has stood the test of time. This car was ordered new at Thomas Motor Company in Floyd Virginia on 10/08/1968. The marti report breaks it down to 1 of 2,866 ordered in this configuration,

Wearing most of it’s original candy apple red paint, this MACH 1 shows just 62,732 miles and I have to believe they are original, however the title reads exempt. The door gaps and trunk gaps are very very good. Doors shut very nice and so does the trunk. It was ordered with VERY few options, F70X14 wide oval tires, white wall tires, an AM radio (which someone has upgraded to AM/FM), and most importantly the 4-Speed close ratio transmission and the 428-4V Cobra Jet Ram Air engine. The gear ratio from the factory was a 3.50 ratio. The original shaker hood and ram air air cleaner with seal is still present.

This mustang does NOT have its original 428 engine, instead is sporting a 72’-73’ 351 windsor engine which I do not know the status of. I do have a 4-speed which is in the trunk and I have decoded it to be correct to a 1967’ 428 car. It has a course spline input shaft. There is also a C6 transmission mounted to the 351 that is just resting in the car, I'm also not certain of its condition. The pedals are still hanging in place, including the cloth pedal. I believe the engine and transmission was just set in place and never actually hooked up.

The car is structurally sound, no rust/rot underneath and very little on the body. I have posted 100 photos of the car so please take your time going through all of them. Bottoms of the doors and quarters are as clean and solid as you will find. All the glass is in tact and in excellent condition, The windows roll up and down easily. The window trim is in great shape. The rocker moldings are original and also in great shape. The roof drip rail is perfect. There is no rust around the front or rear windshield. The fenders, hood, grill and valance are just setting in place and should be removed for transport. I stuck it together for photo purposes. The car rolls very easy.

The interior is complete with the original seats, headliner and carpeting. The original door panels are in great shape. The rear seat does not fold down. The dash pad is in excellent condition. The woodgrain is also in great shape. The headliner is in good shape and can probably be used.

I have lots of parts included which you can see.A brand new front bumper, extra taillights, the original engine wiring harness, fuel pump, shaker hood seal, headlight buckets, oil pan, rear seat cover, emblems, tune up kit, spare tire and LOTS more. The hardware that was taken out under the engine and for the front end has all been bagged and labeled when disassembled. I have a clear florida title and also a deluxe marti report for this mustang.I also have a full set of shop manuals and assembly manuals.
