Crevier Classic Cars is pleased to offer this 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang Convertible. Ford began production of its ‘pony car’ in the mid 1964 model year. Championed by Ford General Manager Lee Iacoca, the Mustang was an instant success. Available initially as a coupe or a convertible, with a low starting price and a large choice of colors and options, the Mustang sold faster than Ford had ever hoped. It caught all of the other major auto manufacturers by surprise. It was so popular that through the 1965 model year the Mustang sold 680,989 units, its first year ! It remains one of the most collectible and instantly recognizable classic cars worldwide.
This particular example was manufactured May 7th, 196, at the Dearborn, MI plant and sold new in Los Angeles, CA. Just 3 weeks after the Mustang was first introduced to the public at the New York World’s Fair. The car still retains its original black license plates. It was owned for two years until its second owner purchased it and owned it until late 2014 when it was purchased by its current owner. The car was always garaged, highly maintained and never involved in an accident. It is finished in its original color combination of Caspian Blue Metallic with a white interior with blue accents. When we first inspected the car, we were amazed at how well cared for the car was. The original floor pans remained in virtually new untouched condition as did the frame and all original sheet-metal. All mechanicals were rebuilt during its restoration and the car has been fully serviced. It is beautifully detailed throughout including its stunning interior and engine compartment. The mustang is well equipped with power steering, power convertible top, full console, automatic transmission, heater, AM radio, styled steel wheels, trumpet exhaust and more. The car is a show worthy example that is ready for both the show field and the open road. It is an amazingly straight, tight, and solid example. It is a very rare find indeed to come across a 3 owner southern California Mustang with such great history. A true icon among classic cars.
