ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS 1965 FORD GALAXIE 500 XL CONVERTIBLE
EXTREMELY RARE OPTIONS INCLUDING POWER DRIVER'S SEAT, ORIGINAL SWING AWAY STEERING WHEEL THAT CAME WITH THE CAR, ORIGINAL OPTION CENTER CONSOLE, POWER WINDOWS. ALL OF THESE ARE ULTRA RARE OPTIONS FOR FORD GALAXIE IN 1965. THIS CAR HAS THEM ALL AND IT IS CONVERTIBLE.
THE CAR HAS BEEN A PART OF MY COLLECTION FOR 8 YEARS OR SO BY NOW. I AM REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF CARS I HAVE IN MY COLLECTION AND THIS IS A VERY TOUGH DECISION WHEN IT COMES TO SELLING THIS CAR. YOU MUST SEE TO TRULY APPRECIATE THIS CAR. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC AND VERY RARE, ESPECIALLY AS A CONVERTIBLE AND IN THIS NICE AND CLEAN CONDITION. HERE IS SOME HISTORY ABOUT THE CAR:
I PURCHASED THIS BEAUTY ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO FROM THE SECOND OWNER. THE CAR HAS BEEN A WEST COAST CAR MOST IF NOT ALL OF ITS LIFE. THERE IS NO RUST ON THIS CAR OR ON THE FRAME. THE PERSON I BOUGHT IT FROM INDICATED THAT HE BOUGHT THE CAR ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO FROM ANOTHER WEST COAST OWNER. AFTER PURCHASING THIS ALL ORIGINAL CAR HE DECIDED TO REDO THE INTERIOR, AND PAINT. THE CAR WAS A DARKER BLUE, APPARENTLY ORIGINAL COLOR AND HE DECIDED TO PAINT TO THIS CUSTOM BLUE COLOR INSIDE AND OUT. I MUST SAY THAT THE BLUE HE CHOSE FOR THIS CAR WAS SPOT ON AS IT MAKES THE CAR REALLY STAND OUT AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL ON THIS CAR. THE PAINT JOB WAS A DETAILED AND HIGH GRADE PAINT JOB. THE CAR WAS STRIPPED AND IT SHOWED NO RUST. THERE WAS NO NEED FOR ANY BODY WORK. SO THE CAR HAS ALL ITS ORIGINAL PANELS, FLOORS ETC. THE CAR STILL HAVE ITS ORIGINAL 289 THAT CAME WITH THIS CAR BUT THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT AND DETAILED AND COLOR ACCENTED WITH THE SAME BODY AND INTERIOR COLOR MATCHING ALL. PICTURES WILL TELL A BETTER STORY HERE. THE INTAKE AND VALVE COVERS WERE CHANGED AND ORIGINAL SET OF SHELBY COBRA WHEELS WERE USED TO REPLACE THE WHEELS ON THE CAR. COBRA WHEELS LOOK GREAT ON THIS CAR. IN ADDITION THE CONVERTIBLE TOP, TOP RUBBERS, TOP PISTONS, TOP HOSES, TOP LINE UP PINS AND HOOKS WERE ALL UPDATED WITH NEW STUFF. IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED AND A NEW ALTERNATOR, OVERFLOW TANK, ELECTRIC FAN, CARBURATOR, HOSES, HEATER CORE, BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER, REBUILT POWER STEERING PUMP, TRANSMISSION, C-4 NEW BRAKES, WHEEL CYLINDERS, WHEEL BEARINGS, ALL FRONT AND REAR SHOCKS, NEW STEERING BOX, TIE RODS AND BRAKE HOSES WERE ALSO ADDED TO THE CAR. THE CAR ALSO RECEIVED ALL NEW RUBBER WEATHER STRIPS (EXCEPTING WING WINDOWS, THEY ARE ORIGINAL AND IN GOOD CONDITION), FUR CHANNEL, DOOR HANDLES, DOOR SEALS, AND TON OF CHROME WORK.
THE CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL AM RADIO BUT THE SPEAKERS WERE REPLACED. GAS SENDING UNIT WAS REPLACED.PREVIOUS OWNER INDICATED THAT HE WON SEVERAL THROPHIES WITH THIS CAR BUT I DID NOT GET THEM UNFORTUNATELY.
