1955 Ford Fairlane 4-door Town Sedan V8 Automatic 59k miles
Description
1955 Ford Fairlane 4dr Town Sedan with a 272 Y-Block V8 and Fordomatic automatic transmission, it has 59,039 original miles, runs and drives good, in town and at highway speed.
After the initial sorting out when we bought it, this has been a nice reliable Cruse-in car for us.The low mileage is true as far as I know and is shown as such with 56372 "Box A" mileage on the title when it was issued to us two years ago.
The suspension was all redone and drives nicely with new rear springs, rear overload coils, front suspension bushings, shocks, brakes and wheel bearings. The engine has hardened exhaust valves for unleaded gas and has been converted to 12V with a Delco alternator.Carburetorwas rebuilt and new distributor with electronic ignition.Dual exhaust was done professionally and sounds great, but not too loud on the highway. There is a recent aluminum radiator and overflow bottle and the car drives in stop and go traffic on the hottest summer day without overheating. We're in Tucson, that means over 110 degrees.
The paint is an older repaint with some chips and normal wear. All the trim pieces are there and in good condition. The front inner and outer fenders, hood, doors, trunk floor, trunk lid and spare tire well are all very good condition inside and out and have no rust through. There is some rust underneath in the rocker panels, a little on both front floors and rear inner quarter panels with previous repairs, looks like this was repaired a long time ago. The pictures and show the worst of it. Not great but it's still a solid car and is a good driver just as it is without any further repairs. The chassis is solid and straight.Glass is all good and the doors close solidly.
The original radio is there and was converted to modern AM/FM with an antenna hiddenunder the front seat. AM is a little weak and only gets the strongest stations, but the FM works great with this antenna. The windshield wipers are converted to electric and work well.
The seats are torn and need to be recovered but they are still comfortable to sit on, headliner is intact but stained, door panels are very nice condition and original. Contact information on a guy in Oregon who is said to have this exact upholsteryfabric will be provided. The fuel gauge works but the water temperature gauge is flaky (engine has never overheated on me), oil light works and shuts off quickly when the engine started. (good oil pressure)The speedometer needle doesn't work but the odometer does work.
This car drives smooth on the freeway and stops straight with easy pedal pressure.
I have been careful to describe the cars condition accurately. Please read all the text and look at all pictures beforebidding so there are no surprises. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
