This was the first of many hot rods Butch Johnson built. The car was built as you see in 1980. All steel Ford Roadster Pickup Hot Rod with an 8BA Flathead built by Dave Enmark featuring original Edelbrock intake with a pair of Stromberg 97's, Offenhauser Heads, Red Hots headers with Smithy's mufflers, '40 Ford hydraulic brakes, stock banjo rear end modified with a real quickchange housing and cover to give the appearance of the operating quickchange, '39 transmission, F1 steering box, customized Model A steering wheel. The red lacquer paint is nearly perfect and was sprayed about 19 coats 35 years ago. The interior was upholstered old-school style with a craftsman working independently in his garage. The top bows were hand formed by Butch, one layer at a time in a custom jig he designed. The frame has a 32 K member for the V-8 application. This was the preferred build for an A chassis. This is a dead straight body with flawless 35 year old paint. The car runs strong and drives smooth. The doors shut with the solid sound we like to hear. The car a clear California title and is currently registered. The tires and brakes are new. Butch used the original components location to keep the original look... for example, the original choke and carburetor adjustment knob is now the light switch. If you are looking for a great old school hot rod to liven up the collection, this is it.
