The car was bought in Florida in 20013 and imported into UK. The Mustang was in fair condition,
ageing but still serviceable. The goal was do to something different with the car so I choose to
make a replica of GT 350 Shelby Cobra. In my opinion this was one of the best version made by
Carroll Shelby. The racing character of this car is timeless. If I succeed in this project you have to
answer the question yourself.
Renovation of the Mustang began from striping it to bare metal and planing all the stages and cost
with will be involve. Next step was getting rid of old coatings using a grinding machine and
sandblasting in areas with are perfect to handle this type of renovation.This whole procedure can
reduce the base needed before the painting.Next step was the imposition of anti-corrosion coating,
so-called primer epoxy.Then I stared the shell regeneration using only new high quality
materials. The details you can see on the pictures with are in this book. After it was time to prepare
my classic car for painting. Firstly we had to fill all the small recess. The car was left for about four
weeks so the base will get the best quality. We done some grinding after that and apply another
spray (final base coating). Again four weeks the car was left alone the receive the best possible
result. Finally I could star with the painting, after some preparation with sandpaper. First I
painted the engine compartment then the interior together with the dashboard, at the end I painted
the cabin with rest of the elements. I used lacquer coating of the highest quality in four stages
(black, red, and three colourless). I also painted the racing Lemans strips like in the old days.
Time has come to renovated rest of the parts witch where still in good condition to use in the car
like (heater, wiper, and some suspensions components). Before I went any further, the chassis
was spread high quality rubber resistant to mechaanical damage and weather. After assembling I
also used about 10 liters waxoil in any body parts (door, flaps, mudguard).
Engine 4.7 289 was replaced with fully rebuilt unit 5.0 302 Driveline and suspension was renovate
to the highest standard. To assemble the Mustang I used about 80% new parts like shown in the
pictures. All seals and gaskets are new and also each screw. For every rubber screw connection I
put grease special design for it, so it will last. The new interior goes very well with the black colour and lots of chromium. I modified the breaking system, at the front new disc and servo with increase
the breaking abilities from the old design. The Mustang receive power steering, so the driving and
parking comfort increase. Further improvements concerns a high quality ignition system from
''MSD'' also new carburettor ''EDELBROCK''. The Mustang received all new fluids the highest quality (Castrol). The three gear manual gearbox was replaced with five gear manual gearbox with
should make this car more satisfactory to drive. I spend about 700 hours for this project to restore.
I have taken the time to do it properly and to achieve the highest standard. The end result you have to judge for yourselves.
