Description

Very Rare 1972 Mach 1 up for grabs! Original R CODE!!!!
Marti Report Included in Pictures!
The car is rust free body wise! The floor will eventually need some work, but the car is extremely solid!
I purchased the car off of the original family who owned it all of its life. The car was only transferred into a different family members name due to an unfortunate death, and then was transferred over to me. Technically the car should still be a one owner car.
The car was a garage find. When I pulled the car out of the previous families garage, it was the first time the car saw the sky in 15 years.
Unfortunately (considering the same gentlemen owned the car his entire life), the car was converted over to an automatic so that the previous original owner to continue to drive and enjoy the car. The toploader was given to the shop who converted the car over to an automatic in the early 90's as "payment" for completing the conversion. Therefore, the toploader is not with the car.
When I got the car, I took it to my shop, drained the fluids, opened up the engine to make sure all was well, refilled the fluids, changed the plugs, drained and refilled the gas tank, timed the car, and tuned the carb slightly. After I did those things, the car fired right up, idled great, and ran decent. This was right before winter, so therefore I had to put the car into storage and couldn't go any farther into messing with the car. If the car does not sell, I plan to get back on working on the car when spring hits again. I know the cars brakes need addressed for sure, the carb needs tuned a bit more, and it needs the appropriate size tires put on the car due to the current ones being way too tall for the car.
The car is all original except for the carb, distributor. I have original valve covers and some other various detail parts (Engine decals, new chrome air filter top with decal, plugs, wires, coil, etc.). I am also still looking for an original carb, transmission, and distributor for the car to bring it back to its original glory.
When the car was fired, the solid liters, and tappet cam sounded glorious, just as it should! I was truly impressed with how well this car ran for doing minimal work, and with how solid this car truly is. Its gorgeous in my opinion, in the state it is. Cars are only original like this once.
This car did have a re-spray from grey, to red while the automatic conversation was done...simply because the oringal owners favorite color was red.
The car is a very rare, unique R code, a piece of Ford history for sure (almost the same engine was the Boss 351...different head designs) and the car has a truly incredible history...you will definitely stand out in the crowd at the car shows with this one....you do not see or find original family owner cars like this often, if at all. It's a real treat to own, and to be a part of its history, however I am wanting to get into a Boss 302 in the near future.
I am an avid Ford and Mustang enthusiast and collector, and will be able to answer any questions you may have for me!
Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding!!
I also have this car listed locally for sale, and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
I also have a local car shipper that I can set anybody up with!!
