1966 Galaxie 500 7 Litre Convertible
Description
Up for auction is a 1966 Galaxie 500 7 Litre Edition Convertible. Very nice driver quality car. It retains its original numbers matching 428 4V engine and 4 speed manual transmission. I purchased this car from the original owner in Indianapolis In. The sale will include a copy of the original title and several other pieces of original paperwork. It is currently titled and plated in my name and I hold a clean and clear Indiana title. The car is well optioned with power steering, factory front disc brakes, and a power top. Along with all of the 7 Litre badging. The engine and transmission were both rebuilt prior to my purchase of the car. Several gaskets were replaced in the engine for freshening up. It runs very smooth and has a great little rumble to the new exhaust. A new center force clutch, throwout bearing, and pressure plate were installed. Lots of other new and rebuilt parts in the mechanicals. New universal joints, all brake components, stainless steel line set, fuel tank and sending unit, shocks all the way around, chassis painted, all wear items replaced in the suspension. New Holley 600 cfm carb with electric choke. The original carb will go with the car. New paint in the original Night Mist Blue. It is a base clear that is nice and shiny throughout. The brightwork is original and has some pitting in various places. The rocker and wheel well moldings have a few bad places in them but that is what makes this a driver. The rear bumper was painted to match the car because of the condition of the chrome. The front bumper is presentable but has its flaws. The interior of the car retains its original seats and dash. The dash pad was replaced and metal was repainted. Gauges were cleaned and reinstalled. Console and kick panels were also repainted. Newer carpet and brand new door panels. Door and trunk weatherstripping was replaced. The pictures were taken before the seat belts were put back in but they are complete now. The speedometer is not currently working, although i installed a new cable and gear. The electrical system is in good shape. The head light bright and dim, turn signals, marker lights, tail lights, license plate light, all interior lights are in good working condition. The windshield wipers are in working condition, new blades. It has a 2 speed switch out of a 67 because I could not locate an original 66. The mounting area nor the wiring was cut to do this so if you have a new switch it could be put back as original. The car runs up and down the road straight and true. The 4 speed shift good through the 4 gears but is a little tricky to get into and out of reverse. The car does not have a convertible top on the mechanism. All of the frame work is there, complete with the pump and lines and functions as it should. The engine compartment is clean, power steering works great. It does leave a small drip of power steering fluid and oil on the floor as it sits but nothing major. Overall this is a nice better that average daily driver car. It is a rarity to have the opportunity to purchase a 7 Litre convertible. Buy this car and don't be afraid to put some miles on it. Please ask any questions that you may have.
